BLURB:
The Montgomery Ink saga from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues with a second chance romance sure to tug at your heartstrings.
When men in uniform showed up on Eliza Wilder-Strong’s doorstep, she knew her life would be irrevocably altered. She not only lost her husband, but the future she’d carefully planned. A year later, she’s looking to start over—beginning with a solo healing vacation. Only she never expects to see a familiar, tempting face along the way.
Beckett Montgomery refuses to want his little sister’s best friend—especially because she’s a widow. Yet there’s no stopping the connection between them. As the temptation to give in intensifies between them, so do the reasons they shouldn’t stay together.
Painful ghosts from both of their pasts stand in their way and sometimes it’s the living that can haunt you when you’re not looking.

My Thoughts:
Beckett’s heart is in the right place but his mind seems to be conflicted. Eliza doesn’t want everyone feeling sorry for her. Both are dealing with pain they can’t see ending any time soon. At least they have family and friends that have good listening ears.
The author seems to give a voice to thoughts that any of us could have. I liked how our author took the time to develop her characters as individuals before attempting to put them together as a couple – that was just part of why I liked this story so much. These were characters that spoke to my heart. If this had been an insta-love story, I don’t know that I would feel the same.
Knowing what our main characters lives were like, in their minds and in their hearts, you will realize that things can be tough at times. Depending on what you have had to deal with in your own lifetime, you may be able to understand that in order to be realistic there’s no way that love at first sight was going to happen. It always amazes me how good a storyteller an author is. Our book doesn’t come with a television/movie screen so we need to rely on her words to paint the pictures that will need to play out in our minds.
Sometimes those pictures can be painful, sometimes they can be sad, and other times they can have you smiling at how everything seems to have worked out. Sometimes you find out that your heart is bigger than you think. Some books can be considered a beach read but even though this has a portion where a vacation occurs, I would say that this is a story that can be read at any time. If this is your first introduction to the Montgomery’s, I hope this will give you an incentive to check out some of the other family members.
