#ReleaseBlitz: My Kind Of Forever by Tracy Brogan; #GuestPost, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #TBR, #Live, #Giveaway

Title: My Kind of Forever
Author: Tracy Brogan
Release Date: January 22, 2019
Publisher: Montlake Romance

Summary:

As the youngest mayor Trillium Bay has ever elected, Brooke Callaghan wants to prove she’s up to the challenge. She’s stepping out of her practical teacher flats and into her sister’s treacherously high heels…with disastrous results. But if she’s going to (literally) stumble her first day on the job, why not fall into the arms of a handsome stranger?

Leo Walker is a rarity on Wenniway Island. Not only handsome, he’s also single, funny, and—most importantly—interested in Brooke. Unfortunately, his reasons for being on the island are temporary, so in spite of the undeniable chemistry between them, he’s not a forever kind of guy.

When a private investigator arrives with news of a jewel thief hiding on the island, Brooke finds herself dealing with one kerfuffle after another, and Leo proves to be a delicious distraction. What does she really know about him, though? And the biggest question of all? Does this short-term romance hold the possibility of long-term love?

Guest Post: The Risks (and Rewards) of Dating in A Small Town by Tracy Brogan

***
MY KIND OF FOREVER is the second book in the Trillium Bay series set on a small island in Northern Michigan, and tells the story of thirty-five year old Brooke Callaghan who has just been elected as the youngest, and first female, mayor the town has ever had. As the oldest of three sisters, Brooke is accustomed to taking charge and bossing others around, but the stodgy, long-time members of the decisively not-modern city council are determined to keep the status quo. In fact, the only one who seems to take Brooke seriously is Leo Walker, the new bartender whose reasons for being on the island are both short-term and known to him alone.
Despite a budding attraction to Leo, Brooke knows she needs to focus on mastering her new job, especially when rumors of a jewel thief hiding out on the island begin to circulate and the well-established rumor mills goes into overdrive. And speaking of rumors, Brooke is more than a little concerned with what the townspeople might say if they discover she and Leo are spending time alone. Coming from such a small community, in this case a village with a winter population of just six hundred people, people’s private lives rarely stay private, and modest, pragmatic Brooke doesn’t like the extra attention. Especially since a bad relationship from her past has left her overly cautious.
Although determined to prove to her neighbors and family she’s got what it takes to be a great mayor, with Leo’s encouragement, Brooke comes to realize she’s also entitled to address a few of the more personal aspects of her life, such as finding romance. But when things with Leo get rocky, she falls back into old patterns, believing that love is too elusive and not for women like her. Fortunately, the local community knows otherwise. They see the real Brooke, the one she thinks is hidden. They know her dedication and intelligence and worth, and they know she deserves to have it all. They know she deserves to have a forever kind of love. And so does Leo.

My Kind of Forever Excerpt:

“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop,” Leo said after everyone else had left and I remained seated in the small meeting room holding my aching head in my hands. “But it sounds like you have your work cut out for you.”

Wow. Did I ever. I’d just spent the past two hours listening to so-called adults bickering about a litany of arbitrary topics. Should Polly’s Popcorn Shop be allowed to sell day-old products? Could the street sweepers add five minutes to their afternoon break? Who was going to play Santa during the Christmas Parade if Harry didn’t come back in time? And the biggest topic of the day? Did everyone see the awnings Tasty Pastries had put up, and who on earth had approved that?

“It’s like they couldn’t even hear me talking,” I said, looking up at him for a response, just to reassure myself that I was, in fact, speaking out loud.

He picked up an empty glass with one hand while wiping a ring of condensation off the table with a damp rag. “I’m not sure they could hear each other talking. Seemed like a lot of monologuing without any listening.”

“But I had an agenda.” I shook my paper at him, now covered in notes that I’d scribbled in the margins about all the other things I wanted to discuss. Things I would have discussed if I could have gotten a word in edgewise. The only one who didn’t interrupt me was my own father, but that’s because he didn’t say anything the entire time. Not unusual for him, but I had hoped to demonstrate a little more power over that cluster of clucking hens. “They were worse than teenagers. I have so many great ideas, but all they care about is the awnings.”

Leo wiped another spot off the table. “What ideas?” He gazed down at me, and I noted how dark blue his eyes were. Depths-of-the-ocean kind of blue. The kind of eyes that made every glance feel significant, even if it meant nothing at all. A flutter of something long-forgotten tickled inside my veins. Attraction. Followed by an immediate need to ignore it.

“Oh, all kinds of ideas.” I smiled tiredly and pushed myself up, because it was nearly five thirty and the Palomino Pub would start filling up with the evening crew pretty soon. “I’ll get out of the way now so you can have the room for dinner guests.”

“Speaking of dinner,” he said, “I’m new around here, so I was wondering, what restaurants do you like?”

“Oh, we have lots of great places to eat. All price ranges. The Windemere Grill is right down on the corner. There’s the Imperial Hotel dining room if you want something elegant. The Feast Well Bistro, Carmen’s Café, and Tate’s Tavern on the Bluff are good, too. At the tavern, you can watch the sun set behind Petoskey Bridge. It’s a great view. And for breakfast, I recommend Link & Patty’s Breakfast Buffet. The pink piggy décor is a little much, but the pancakes are the best.”

“Are you suggesting we have dinner and breakfast?” His dark eyebrow arched just as the corner of his mouth quirked in a ridiculously endearing fashion.

I pushed in my chair with an abrupt scrape. “Excuse me?”

“I was inviting you to dinner. You were inviting me to breakfast.”

That flutter of attraction multiplied even as my mouth fell open for a second. I’m sure it was a great look on me. “I wasn’t. And you weren’t. Were you?”

He laughed, and even though it might have been at my expense, the sound of it sent a flush over my skin and a tingle to places that hadn’t tingled for a very long time.

“I was inviting you to dinner, but not very well, apparently. I’ve been on the island a few days, but I don’t know anyone here, so would you like to have dinner with me?” I was starving. And he was handsome. And new in town. And looked to be roughly my age. There was no history, no baggage, no reason to say no. But it had been so long since anyone had asked me out, it nearly felt improper. Everyone knew me around here. Everyone would know that we’d had dinner, and certainly everyone would have an opinion about it. And it’s not as if we could go someplace private because there was no place private on the entire island. And there was that issue of the flutter. I didn’t want to be fluttering. Fluttering led to heartbreak.

BLURB:

He’s known as Father Anton to his teammates—the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze has a reputation for…not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov’s on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She’s his teammate’s wife, after all.

Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost.

A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

Once Upon An Alpha Presents: Scout's Legacy by Khloe Wren; #ReleaseBlitz, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #TBR, #Live

There’s nothing he won’t do to keep those he loves safe.

It might have taken Charlie “Scout” Dalton, the president of the Charon MC, over twenty years to see what was right in front of him, but once he did, he didn’t waste a moment tying her to him. Now happily married to the love of his life, Marie, they were expecting a baby and had adopted little Ariel. His life was coming up roses.

Once ready to give up on Scout, Marie was now living her dream. Married to the man she’s loved forever and carrying his baby in her belly.

But nothing in life ever goes to plan, and the birth of their baby is no exception. An unknown enemy comes to Bridgewater and chaos ensues. In the aftermath, Scout finds his loyalty to everything he holds dear tested. Will he be able to find a way to both save his club and be there for his family?

“So help me, if you try to stop me from having my coffee… One cup. I get one damn cup of coffee each day. Do not come between me and it.”

With wide eyes, she put her palms up and backed away and guilt rode me. Mercedes had first arrived in Bridgewater after she fled the cult she’d been raised in. She didn’t handle making mistakes well, and always shut down hard if someone got mad at her. Since settling down with Tiny she’d gotten better, but she still had a long way to go. I reached out and rested a palm on her arm.

“Mercedes, I’m not mad at you, sugar. It’s just been a long eight months growing this boy of mine, and I’m about done with Scout’s over-protectiveness.”

“How about you go sit down and I’ll make it for you? I promise I won’t use the decaf like Scout told me to.”

That had me chuckling and I pulled her in for a hug, happy she was back to her normal self.

“Sure thing, sugar. It’ll be our secret.”

I moved out from behind the machine and took a seat at an empty table facing the kids, but not so close that they’d think I was hovering. Ariel didn’t do well when she thought she was being watched. Poor love tried to do everything she thought adults would want her to do, not realizing we just wanted her to be a child and have fun with learning how to live her life free.

Apparently Scout had the whole damn universe out to prevent me getting my caffeine this morning, because before Mercedes could place the cup on the table in front of me, the front door crashed open. Naturally, the noise made her jump and the cup slipped, dropping to the floor and shattering. In reflex, I jumped up from my seat to avoid the hot liquid and quickly found myself with a thick arm around my throat. A chill ran down my spine and a wave of dizziness hit me when the barrel of a gun pressed against the side of my belly.

“Don’t move.”

Khloe Wren grew up in the Adelaide Hills before her parents moved the family to country South Australia when she was a teen. A few years later, Khloe moved to Melbourne which was where she got her first taste of big city living.

After a few years living in the big city, she missed the fresh air and space of country living so returned to rural South Australia. Khloe currently lives in the Murraylands with her incredibly patient husband, two strong willed young daughters, an energetic dog and two curious cats.

Khloe started writing in 2012 after complications from major surgery left her unable to do much other than read, and write for several months. She now has over twenty published romantic suspense books under her belt.

While Khloe doesn’t ride a bike herself, yet, she loves riding pillion behind her husband on the rare occasion they get to go out without their daughters.

Book Blurb:

Imogen

There is no way we can still love and cherish one and other.

When I married Theo Walsh, the rough, bearded townie who worked construction on my family’s summer house, I’d found my happily ever after.

That was before the fighting.
Before the jealousy.
Before the infertility.

We’ll be divorced long before death does us part.

But to secure my place in the family dynasty, there is just one more hoop I have to jump through. And I need him to do it.

Faking the marriage we once thrived in will gut me.
Especially with the secret I’m carrying.

Theo

I would have sacrificed for her until the end of time.

My job.
My home.
My happiness.

I’d given it all up to marry her. That’s how much I loved Imogen Weston, the daughter to one of the world’s richest families.

From the day we met, I’d done nothing but try to live up to the man she expected to be with. And now, I was done.

Sure, I’d complete this one final ask of hers, even if it destroyed me.

But I’ve made her promise the one thing that might save me. She swore that after she got everything she ever wanted, she wouldn’t look back.

I made my wife vow to leave me forever.

Chapter 1

Theo

I slept with my wife on our first date.

I’m not revealing this to brag or boast, or for you to infer anything from either of our personalities. It was just the simple fact that I knew from that first chance meeting, deep in my bones, that she would be the woman I’d spend the rest of my life with.

Honestly, I was never the kind of guy to get naked with a woman that quickly. If I were going for romance, which in Imogen Weston’s, the future Imogen Walsh, case I should have been … I would have laid out the red carpet. Flowers, picnics on the beach, candles, and gazing at the stars … my definition of dating was something out of a Nicholas Sparks’ novel. It’s just how you did things if you wanted to impress a woman.

Watch the trailer for ASHES TO INK:

Read an excerpt from ASHES TO INK:

She pulled into Ryan’s driveway, right next to his car, and let out a breath. She’d been right. He was home.

She didn’t want to say that he was going to pay for leaving her like that, but it would be pretty damn close. Anger surged through her veins. She wasn’t mad at Ryan, she was angry that he’d given up. But his life had been dealt another blow, and he had turned around and done the same to her.

Well, that just wouldn’t stand.

She slammed the car door and made her way to Ryan’s front door. She rang the doorbell, once, twice, then three times, her hands shaking as she did.

Maybe the adrenaline from what had happened at the store was finally wearing off and she was starting to freak out. Well, she could do that later. First, she needed to make sure that Ryan understood exactly what was going on.

Because there was no way she’d let it end like this.

It was going to end on her terms or his. Their terms.

Not Michael’s.

She was about to ring the doorbell again when Ryan opened the door, his eyes wide, a closed beer bottle in his hand, and his shirt unbuttoned.

It was very hard to concentrate on being angry with him and the entire situation when all she could do was stare at his chest.

His very sexy chest.

A chest with the perfect amount of hair that made her want to growl, and ink everywhere there wasn’t hair.

She really, really wanted to touch that chest.

But first, she needed to let her anger out.

“Can I come in?” she asked as she pushed her way into the house.

She wasn’t usually this forward. In fact, she was usually only this way with her business. Except for when she had been in bed with Ryan. Then, she had been just as forward as he was. And it had been fun. Good. Neither of them fighting for control but pushing each other to go further. To fly over the edge as they came.

That had been fun.

But her standing up for herself like this? She wasn’t really good at it.

But she’d be damned if she let what had happened earlier change and ruin everything.

Ryan closed the door behind her and then turned around on his heel. “I guess you can just come in.”

“Thanks. We need to talk.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a breath. “I don’t want to hurt you, Abby, but you need to go.”

She ignored the little clutch in her belly at his words. She would let him off the hook this time and not get too angry. She wouldn’t lash out at him for pushing her away. She understood the desire, the need. She had done enough of that when she lost Max. But she wasn’t about to walk away just then.

“No.”

Billionaire CEO Dylan Truex was burnt out. Not from his empire, DIRTY GAINS, but from his celebrity status. Having the body he did as well as the motivation to lead the pack, was no longer all it was cracked up to be. Heading to Estes Park for a two-week getaway all by himself sounded like the perfect solution to all his problems. Until he arrives and finds that the condo has been double-booked. Sharing the condo, he can handle. Cute blondie tempting him to break his no-sex bet, err…
When Lina Armstrong runs away from her old life—walking out on her job and leaving behind her family—the best thing she can do is reclaim her true self. No boss. No family. No men. No anybody. Then comes handsome stranger Dylan Truman threatening to wreck her alone time at Pine Lake. Yeah, he’s cute and all, but so are the elk and that doesn’t mean she wants to share a condo with them.
When the blizzard hits and whiteout conditions make it unsafe for either of them to go anywhere, they are forced to stay put in the condo together. What started off as a bad thing, starts to turn into something good. Two weeks with this cocky hard body? Alright, if she must.
It shouldn’t be a problem as long as she can keep her hands to herself and stop imagining if his tongue has as much stamina as the rest of his body.

My Thoughts:

Dylan Truex believes in a health regimen but is he doing it for the right reasons.  He shows how much social media can affect someone’s life.  It gets better though when he decides to get away for a while.  Lina Armstrong isn’t easily impressed.

The author slowly reveals some of the things these two have in common. While that’s going on she also slowly builds up the heat between our two mismatched characters.  Let’s just say that if I had the room I’d be looking into a wood-burning fireplace.  Loved the giggle moments.  They had me looking forward to more.  Also loved the tension and uneasiness that showed through.

I’ve seen guys like Dylan in the gym.  You know the ones.  You can picture them rubbing their abs (to make sure they didn’t go anywhere) and then the imagery of him kissing his guns.  You know the ones.  They always work out in front of the mirror.  The ones that aren’t just making sure they’re doing their form correctly.  Oh, and let’s not forget the big jug with their favorite workout drink.  That’s not to say that I don’t appreciate looking at the fruits of their labor and they certainly helped me in forming an image of Dylan.  And don’t get me started on ego.

Once I get past that image, I start to get a look at Lina.  She’s a strong woman on the outside but she seems so timid on the inside - a little unsure of herself.  But she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone and go off by herself to try and reinvent herself.  Then our author puts temptation in her way.  I got so into the story that everything seemed to disappear.  The cold was outside but it got nice and toasty in my living room.

There were just so many things that kept my attention.  First we have a man that I’m surprised there was enough room for him and his ego.  We have a woman who has shut herself off from everyone but does she have enough room in her heart to actually let someone in.  Even Mother Nature has a role in this story and with winter right outside my window it helped to create the perfect backdrop.  My climax was when I got to the romantic ending – yes, Dylan did redeem himself in my eyes- but I have other billionaires to check out in the series.  I also have an author who happens to have other books that I can check out.

Ashley Bostock was born and raised in Colorado where she currently resides with her husband, two children and her animals. She loves reading, writing, and music and is always trying to find more time in the day to incorporate all three.
