EXCERPTS:
Arrogant men stood different, carried themselves different, and smirked when they should smile. The redhead clearly enjoyed his own company and Ana dug people who loved themselves—narcissists. Her therapist would say that was a problem, but she wasn’t here, so who cared?
Tilting his head in a question and looking directly at her, the redhead arched an eyebrow; she’d been staring at him. A normal person would have smiled, maybe even waved, but Ana rolled her eyes and turned back to the bar. Because I have no game.
“Here, girl,” said the bartender, and her drink appeared. When Ana exchanged her card for the bourbon, he asked, “Open tab?”
“Nah, I’m about to be out of here.”
“Aight girl.”
“Hey, how old is the kid over there? The redhead on the terrace, six o’clock,” asked Ana. She lived alone and had no dignity, so why not?
The bartender stared behind Ana, squinting. “I carded him already.” Yeah, because Ana looked like she was from the liquor license revoking… agency?
“I’ve seen him in here before. He’s all right,” said the bartender answering the question Ana hadn’t asked. “The blonde is hot, though,” he continued.
“Is he looking at me?” Ana asked.
“Nope, he’s looking at the blonde.” With that, he took her card and turned.
Ana threw a glance over her shoulder—carefully. He was talking to a blonde wearing an off-the-shoulder black dress. The woman’s face was turned away from Ana but the snooty attire said ‘not a college kid’. Perhaps he liked older women, which was good, because Ana wasn’t eighteen or nineteen… or however old he was. At twenty-seven, she was already trying to rob cradles—she would need more than one therapist soon.

Although she claims to love everyone equally, she really loves her youngest son the most. He has autism superpowers that allow him to speak all types of rare languages including drumbeats, elevator dings, and police sirens.
Miss Feathers loves grey days, orange cats, and all creatures human or otherwise. And she hopes you will love her world (fantasy) and people (characters) as well.

Do your roots help you in writing your stories? What is your inspiration?
I’m Mongolian and that is where I live now, but I’ve spent a great deal of my adult life in Dallas, TX— which is where my American English comes from. Perhaps it’s because I’m Mongolian but I love old warrior cultures: Vikings, Samurais, and of course, Mongols.
‘Light of Adua’ is a dark fantasy series set in the modern world, and ‘Silver to the Heart’, Book 1, spends most of its time in New Orleans, and a made-up small town in Texas. But my cast is diverse. One of my absolute favorite characters is Ayasu Sasuke. As a human, he lived in the early 1500s in feudal Japan, during the Warring States era as a warlord.
In ‘Silver to the Heart’, Sasuke is the commander of the Elder High Council. Although he’s not a point-of-view character in Book 1, he’s always a driving force behind the story. Traditional himself but married to a French teleporter, he defies norms. My fascination with old Japan was my inspiration for his character.
I have a Tanzanian healer, a Russian telekinetic, and an American guardian, but no Mongolian characters as of yet. I think because I’ve moved around a lot when I was young, my roots are global, and I appreciate and love all cultures in their many varieties equally. I think differences are as beautiful as flaws in both real humans as well as fictional characters.
As far as inspirations go, I’m afraid I’m one of those who get compelled to write rather than inspired. A bit mad myself, the characters speak to me and compel me to write their stories. Their voices loop in my head and don’t afford me ordinary thoughts until I write down the story.
Despite being dark fantasy, the Light of Adua series has disappointingly little smut. However, I do play with complex relationships between characters who’s known each other for centuries. For instance, Drake, one of my main characters for Book 1 has a rather obsessive relationship with Sasuke, whom he considers to be akin to his father. Drake has killed his real father in his backstory.
If you don’t mind the dark, please give the series a shot, Book 1 is perma-free across all retailers. Only the theme is dark, but the characters themselves are rather humorous, or at least I hope they are.
Thank you for having me here, and as you read this, a Mongol is waving at you from across the globe… with a hand and not a sword— I’m one of the friendly ones.
