Rating:  4 ½ stars

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from HeartFelt Promos and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Lillian “Lily” Randall works as a slave in a BDSM club.  Terry Graugnaud is her boss but he’s also so much more.  The theme is set around Halloween but you could read this book at any time of year.  As you read, you’ll feel the heat these two create coming off the pages.

There are some M/M and BDSM scenes but nothing too graphic – this way the reader gets to use their imagination.  It’s also a great way that readers can still experience the scene without getting too graphic.  Depending on how sensitive you are at reading a story like this, you may find your own juices flowing.

Terry has a couple of interesting friends who join him at the club and this is when our author adds a paranormal twist to her story.  For those readers that like some sexy with their paranormal, this book will be a good choice for you.  Those that like bondage may even enjoy the paranormal twist that the author has included.

If you love to read a story that just sucks you in and won’t let you go until the very end, than Laura’s book is for you.  Once you finish reading this one, you may find that you will want to check out another one of her books.  You may even want to see if you can read something out of your comfort zone – expand your horizons.

Book Review: Wounded Wings by Shauna Allen

Book 3, The Cupid Chronicles Series
Publisher:  Soul Mate Publishing
ISBN:  9781619353497
Pages: 260 pages/3485KB (e-book)
Date:  December 16, 2013

Rating:  4 ½ stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Please make sure to read the Acknowledgements.  I was one of those readers that always went right to the story and skipped anything that came before.  But once I became a blogger/reviewer, I found that it’s important to read everything that the author has written.  Sometimes you learn something you never knew about the author.  But in this case, you learn a little bit about how this book came about.

Elijah Smith is a man with a heavy heart.  You will see how much his pain consumes him.  Naomi Evans works at the town bakery and she has some scars of her own.  Michael Smith comes to town and he’s a man that knows about Elijah’s background.

have to apologize to Shauna – when Naomi meets Eli for the first time, an M & M commercial immediately popped into my head:

The minute you read the scene you will understand.  And the scene gets even better – would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that one.

As I read about Michael, I find that I want to know more about him.  This goes to show you that in this case, you need to read the first two books.  You don’t need to read the first two to understand this story but Michael is the connecting factor and he’s why I plan to go back and get the first two read before Shauna’s novella comes out on Valentine’s Day.

One good thing about this book is it’s about Elijah’s journey as a human.  Nothing in real life always runs smoothly so we shouldn’t expect all our heroes to not go through what we mere mortals go through.  And whose to say that a little competition can’t bring people closer together.  Sometimes people just need a little push.  And outward appearances aren’t always important.

Our author makes us believe that anything is possible.  Where is it written in stone what cupid is to look like or even how they are supposed to act?  This was one of those books that once I started to read; I just couldn’t put it down.  First it was one more sentence, then it was one more paragraph and then it was one more chapter.  Because of work, I was able to get this book read in just a couple of days.  This is an author I will continue to read what she puts out.  And I recommend that if you are someone that likes fantasies or love stories about angels, make sure to read this book.
