Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book for review from Give Me Books Promotions and the authors. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are excited to bring you the Cocky Hero Club: original works from various authors inspired by Keeland and Ward's New York Times bestselling Cocky Bastard series.

A fresh start in Temecula, CA was exactly what I needed to get over my breakup. I was looking forward to Palm Trees, fine wine, the beaches and killer sunsets. But I never expected to run into handsome Levi Bateman while still on my way to California. The last thing I needed was a conceited passenger. I had a job to focus on.

I knew Levi would be a distraction because we would be working in close proximity. He was so sure of himself, resisting him was even harder. Not only did I have a job to focus on, I had a broken heart to mend and I was ten years older than Levi. There was too much baggage between the both of us.

Besides I didn’t know if I’d be staying in Temecula after the job was complete.
All good things must come to end.
Maybe before it even started.
Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

*Conceited Concierge is a second chance romance inspired by Cocky Bastard.

My Thoughts:

Rylee is on life’s next adventure.  Levi is ready to start the next chapter in his life.  I loved how the author made Rylee into a woman who won’t define herself or her sexuality.  That’s not all that she’s done with this character – surprises abound.  What I loved about Levi was that he seemed so easy-going, he doesn’t give up and that means not taking “no” for an answer.

A lot of what the author writes feels very realistic.  Feelings and emotions are ones that anyone in the same situation might show.  Not all relationships run smoothly and sometimes have to be worked on.  Sometimes you have to eat crow.  Happiness has to be worked on together – as equals.

Our author puts in twists that I don’t think a lot of couples would come across but it just shows how creative she is.  At times, the story is romantic but there has to be more between two people and the author does it without showing all the intimate moments.  At no point did I feel that she left something out or made a scene choppy so that she could keep the story going.  It could be considered a great introduction if you’ve never read any work by this author before.  If you’re looking for a read that you can get done in just a few hours is just another reason.  And if you’re following this series then you certainly want to add this to your library.

Renea Porter is best known for writing realistic stories with realistic characters. Her stories may even cause you to shed a tear or two.

She mainly writes New Adult and Contemporary Romances. However, she's not afraid to venture into other genres like Paranormal Romance.

She enjoys spending time with her husband of twenty years, and her step son. She calls Pennsylvania home, but loves to travel and try new things. In her free time you can catch her reading books, watching reality tv, and baking.

Liza took in the lush Douglas fir draped in white lights and colorful ornaments. “It’s missing something. Wait.” She opened the coat closet and took out a box while repressing her grin. Carrying it back, she announced, “We need a top for the tree.” With great flourish, she pulled it out, proudly holding it up.

Justice’s expression contorted somewhere between laughter and horror. “What the hell is that?”

“It’s a Christmas Chicken. Obviously.”

“Baby, there is nothing obvious about that.” He swiped it from her hand, holding it up. “Where did you get this?”

Liza had to admit, it was…different. It was formed from metal into the shape of a chicken and stood about five inches high. It had a jaunty red Santa hat on, and once it was plugged in, all the feathers lit up in green and red lights. “Online shopping.”

“No way are we putting this on the tree. This thing is an insult to Christmas.”

Liza stared at him in mock outrage, not willing to admit it had been one of her rare impulse buys. Chickens always made her think of Justice and his closeness with his grandmother. The woman had died before Liza met her, and yet, through Justice and this house, she felt a real connection to her. Or maybe it was just that she wished she had the kind of relationship with her grandmother that Justice had had with his. Of course she could tell him that, but it was more fun to tease him. “You haven’t heard the story of the Christmas Chicken?”

“No such thing.” Justice pinned her with his stare. “You’re making that up.”

“I am not.” Busying herself with repacking the unused decorations, she tried to think fast. “Come on, you have to have heard this. The one about…” Think! “…a chicken named Henrietta who heard the boys talking. She was going to be Christmas dinner. The chicken runs away and goes on a series of adventures.” Wow she was ripping off almost every children’s Christmas tale she’d ever read.

“Is that right? A chicken all by herself?”

She didn’t dare look at him or she’d bust up laughing. “Well, not by herself. She finds friends. You know, um…she rescues a deer after discovering him with his hoof caught in a fence.”

“Is that right?” Silky derision flowed in his tone. “Let me guess, a reindeer?”

“Sure.” Getting into her story now, Beth carefully closed the box lid. “Only the chicken hasn’t seen deer before, so he doesn’t know that this is a very special deer—”

“I call bullshit.”

She spun around, feigning outrage. “Are you doubting my Christmas Chicken?”

“I think you’re lying through your pretty teeth.” He advanced on her.

Liza backed up. “Nope. Totally the truth. I can’t believe you’d accuse me of lying.”

“I’m accusing, sweetheart. And I’m going to prove it with a little truth test.”

War can never be forgotten.

No matter how many years have gone by.
No matter how many roads I’ve travelled.
No matter how many women I lose myself in.
The memories remain.

And on top of it all, I have the Dear John letter memorized in my head I received the day of the bombing.
War and love can go straight to hall because I’m done with both.
The only solace I have is the club.
We’ve been traveling awhile now and it’s time to go home.
But before we do, I’m collecting my mark and hopefully Reaper remembers.
Because I’m not leaving Vegas without it.

Only, I never thought I’d want a beautiful blondie instead.
There’s a catch.
She’s off-limits because she’s The President’s sister.
Of the Ruthless Kings.
I don’t want love.
And I sure as hell don’t want war.
I’ve lived both and both nearly killed me.
But I can’t seem to stay away, and my terms have changed for the debt has changed.

I’m not leaving without Delilah.
The damn woman’s made me believe in love again.
And I’m not letting that go.
Even if it means I have to fight.

What’s that saying?
Nothing is fair in love and war.

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.

If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

“It’s been a long time since we danced together.”
She doesn’t look up, but her smile grows. “It was homecoming, first dance of the year.”
“And the last. I still can’t believe you didn’t go to prom with me. All high school romances end at the prom.”
Her nose curls. “We were not a high school romance.”
“We might’ve been. The high school quarterback, all around hot guy who falls for the quiet, bookish future librarian. It’s the perfect setup for a movie.”
“All-around hot guy…” Her brown eyes roll adorably, and I’m glad the tension seems to have melted. “I’m not a future librarian.”
“I know.” I think about that night. “You did promise to have my back, though.”
“Until you broke the rules and kissed me.”
“It was a really good kiss. We should try it again to see if we’ve still got it.”
She steps out of my arms. “I’ve got a job to finish. Then I’m leaving Fireside.”
“Okay.” I shrug. “I’m not going to be here for long. Maybe we could pass the time together. Hang out.” I lean down to catch her eye. “What do you say, Tink?”
“Tinkerbell. You remind me of her.”
“Does that make you Peter Pan, the eternal man-child?”
“I’m no child.” It comes out a bit hungrier than I intended, and her cheeks turn red so fast.
Should I say oops? I’m sure as hell not taking it back.
“I’ve got to go.”
She does it, too. She walks off, leaving me alone on the dance floor...

Don’t get drug through the mud to end up at the altar in a dirty wedding dress”

I swear, every day of my life, not a day goes by where there isn't a relationship crises that I am pulled into. It doesn't matter where I go; someone is talking about relationships and marriages. Hell, love and relationships are the top talking points at my gynecologist office, geesh!

Both men and women aspire to attain a traditional “happily ever after” in their relationships/marriages, it seems. However, it's looking more and more as if the tradition of marriage is being discarded and strewn to the wayside in our fast-paced society.

Too many relationships are plagued with infidelity, abuse, financial woes, and an absence of a spiritual foundation. With that recipe, how can a relationship survive and thrive?

After countless lessons in my life and simply observing others, I’ve witnessed and learned a lot. If marriage or a committed relationship is what you desire, complaining to others will most likely not yield a positive result.

There are some things you must never forget! Some things are good. Some things are bad. Others are simply a lesson you’re meant to learn.

You are about to experience an immersive lesson on relationships and what it all means in this real world, and it's guaranteed to be a lesson you will never forget!

Her white dress and white veil signifies her innocence, which is glowingly visible on her face. Meanwhile, her side smile tells the entire story of her tainted love affair.”

Some of our behaviors were quite nefarious. Behind the “good girl” public image, there lived a fun girl to the 100th power!”

But through it all, your father always professed his love for me. He swore he'd never leave me. He said he didn’t know why he beat me, but he was so sorry…always sorry.”

I thought if I could just hold on and gain the title of being his wife, all the wrongdoings would somehow instantaneously be made right.”

He would come by our house to see my mother for a few hours, here and there. He never once stayed overnight.”

Barely able to speak, she said, “I can't do this anymore.”

About the Author:

I am a published Author of a 5- star rated romance novel. Go figure!

Most of us have unrealized dreams and aspirations, right? In many cases some never reach their full potential because the biggest obstacle in stagnation is self. You’ve heard the saying “ Get out of your own way!”

Since writing Dirty Wedding Dress : The Dirty Past, I’ve been asked by other aspiring Authors the exact same question; How did you do it?

Well, I remember when my journey began. It was over 35 years ago! Yes, that is how long this process has been in the works for me.

At around age 16, I began having a recurring dream. In the dream, I found myself speaking before an incalculable audience of people.

For many years afterwards, I questioned God. I sought answers to the who, what, when and where. “God, why am I having the same dream but more importantly what in the world am I talking about that people are interested in hearing?”

As with most things, when I didn’t receive immediate clarification, I simply continued living. Life goes on was my thinking,

In 2014, I had another dream. But, in this dream, I saw the words Dirty Wedding Dress. I mumbled under my voice, “hmmm, interesting.” I vaguely remember writing on that subject, but then I stopped. I mean we all know how life can be. Too busy to add another line item to my overcrowded To Do List, right?

I continued on about my busy life. Until one night in 2019, I had another dream. The same as before. The words Dirty Wedding Dress. I paused.

In my past, I was not what I considered to be a “serial dater.” I never married. I enjoyed being a free spirit. I guess that is the Aquarius in me. The social butterfly.

Ironically, at this exact same time, I was in a relationship and let me tell you, that is an entirely different novel of its own! Dating these days is nothing like I remember, I will just leave it there for now.

But getting back to the dream and the words Dirty Wedding Dress. I felt different about the dream this time. It felt like a “charge” a demand even. I quickly began doing what most do when we do not want to comply with something. I began making excuses.

I told myself I was busy. I was tired. I was sick. I tried everything. But I could not shake the “charge.”

Once I accepted that I would complete writing the book Dirty Wedding Dress, I began researching. I had been an owner of an Independent Record Label during the 2000’s. I knew I would need a Publisher.

I called my current Publisher, Dorrance Publishing. I remember asking the agent a very straight forward question, “how do I write a book?” We both chuckled! Little did he know, I was profoundly serious because I had only read 2 books in my entire life. PS I love you and the King James Bible (which I have been working on half of my life and it is still pending)

I did not know the first thing about writing a book. But the agent’s response somehow calmed my fears. He said, “if you can tell a good story, you can write a book.”

Later that night, I prayed about writing the book Dirty Wedding Dress. When I awoke, I knew that I had been writing this book my entire life. When I sat down at my computer the words seemingly attached themselves to paper, effortlessly.

To all who aspire to write a book or whatever that nagging voice is telling you to do, I say stop making excuses and do it! It may just change your life as it has changed mine️.
