Ghosts of New England: Skullery Bay

An anthology unlike any other...

4 Different Centuries

4 To-Die-For Romances

The Same 2 Ghosts!

A storm is coming to Fairwinds after lifetimes of emptiness. Can love survive the dark secrets revealed there?

A house of mystery and shadows awaits Lucy Ellison on the windswept coast of New England. Neglected and all but forgotten, Fairwinds is the centuries-old estate of her ancestors. Locals know the legend and stay away. Whispered stories of vengeful ghosts and pirate curses. Lucy never imagined she’d experience them firsthand, until her brother banishes her there following the death of their father. But the resident spirits are the least of her worries. Her brother’s schemes include marrying her off to a stranger. The question is why?

Nathaniel Bradford arrives at Fairwinds to discover the latest victim on the rocks below the sea cliffs. Unless Nate agrees to step into the dead man’s shoes, his mother will be the sole caretaker of the vast estate. His law firm in Boston can spare him for a few weeks, but how can he find a replacement for a man who supposedly left by way of a deadly curse? The unexpected arrival of the beautiful heiress, Lucy Ellison, complicates everything. She’s from the dubious family that continues to upend Nate’s life. Yet their mutual attraction is as swift and powerful as the waves surrounding them.

Deceptions, and dangers, adventure, and intrigue cast two lovers into the legend of Fairwinds. Can their bond weather the storm? Or will unknown forces tear them apart?

Best Selling & Award-Winning Author, Kathryn Hills

He’s the solicitor working as a caretaker because of the deadly curse.

Their love will rebuild the legend.

It was a dark and stormy night… Oooo…Don’t you just LOVE a great ghost story?! I know I do! In fact, it’s well known in my circle of author friends that I enjoy investigating all things creepy, strange, and paranormal. My adventures have taken me to some wonderfully weird destinations, from forgotten cemeteries and abandoned asylums to haunted houses. Pretty sure it’s why I was asked to write for this exciting, new, romance anthology – Ghosts of New England: Scullery Bay. Whether you believe in ghosts, or not, it’s always fun to get swept away by the possibility that something chilling might be lurking around the dark corners in your next favorite read.

The setting for this unique collection of four books was the first thing to entice me. As a long-time resident of New England, I appreciate everything from our rocky shorelines to the deep, dark forests of the rugged north country. Such fun for we three authors—Lisa A. Olech, Nancy Fraser, and myself—to conjure up the ideal location for our ghostly romances. We let our imaginations run wild when inventing Fairwinds, the mysterious mansion once owned by a notorious pirate. What’s not to love about a windswept estate with hidden passageways, tidal caves, and deadly curses?

As the author of the second book, Cast to the Wind and Waves, I immersed myself in this fabulous setting and the year 1837. The candlelight and clothing. Fires burning for warmth and to ward off evil. Stormy nights filled with long, frightening shadows. It was fantastic for me, a modern-day ghost hunter and history lover! However, it was also challenging. Writing a historic romance for the first time, it meant I needed to research many more things, including language. How would I describe the sensations I’d experienced at haunted locations? Goosebumps, for example. Did you know that word wasn’t used until long after my characters lived? Instead, people would refer to goose skin or hen flesh. (hahaha…creepier if you ask me!

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into Ghosts of New England: Skullery Bay. Speaking for myself and my fellow authors, we can’t wait to share our steamy, spooky romances with you! I swear there are thrills and chills aplenty. Shivers of both delight and fear, as well as laughter and tears. Four centuries. Four to-die-for romances. Same two ghosts. Fairwinds will be your next favorite haunted destination!

Author Bio & Links:

KATHRYN HILLS — The rich history and many mysteries of New England are the perfect backdrop for many of Kathryn’s books. Winding roads lined by old stone walls, forgotten cemeteries, grand homes with shadowy pasts...all sparks for her imagination. Whether it’s a quaint seaside town or the vibrant city of Boston, it’s easy for this “hauntingly romantic” author to envision the past mingling with the present. No surprise, some of Kathryn’s favorite stories involve time travel. And ghosts! Sprinkle in some magic, and you’re off on a great adventure.

When not writing, this best-selling author is researching, gardening, or cooking up something special in her chaotic kitchen. She shares her colonial home in the north woods with those she loves most – her wonderful husband and daughter, and three crazy dogs.
