My Thoughts:
Claire is starting the next chapter of her life but so far it’s not going too smoothly. Johnny has an interesting job choice but will it give him a sense of security. He’s something of a mystery that slowly unfolds. Their stories seem separate until the author finds a way for them to intersect. She creates a secondary character that seemed almost like a fairy godfather. I only wished that I could have seen more of him.Both their stories may break your heart. They both have things going on that young adults shouldn’t have to deal with. Money seems to be an issue for both but for different reasons. This is one book that a parent may want to read first, depending on the age of your teenager.
It seems like we’re seeing the Claire and Johnny story within a certain timeframe. We get to see both the good and the bad. Depending on the town you live in, things that Claire and Johnny experience may not be talked about, or even make the news, and I guess that’s part of the reason that the crime reality dramas are becoming more and more popular these days. This story was a surprise from beginning to end – which was one I certainly wasn’t expecting.
