Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book for review from Enticing Journey Book Promotions and the authors. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. Avah only wants self-sufficiency and security. She doesn’t know love, has never been in a relationship, and she’s okay with that. After all, it’s hard to give your heart to someone when your body is for sale to the highest bidder.
She knows herself, or at least she thought that she did until a man walks into her life that turns her entire world upside down.
Hawk isn’t necessarily in good standing with the Savage Beast MC. He knows that he has quite a bit to atone for. And he plans on doing just that, no matter how much his club and daughter fight with him on it.
When he sees Avah, he knows that she is not part of his plan, but you know what they say about best laid plans...
He cannot have her.
She should not want him.
They know what they deserve and what they clearly do not.
They were wrecked by life a long time ago.
Two people who should not be drawn to one another. One is a murderer. The other an escort. They can’t stay away from one another. They know they shouldn't, but nothing can stop them.

Amazon Review - “Fantastic book!”
MAustin Amazon Review - “Great must read that pulls you right in.”
RomanceBookLoverInSeattle - “Such a dark and twisted book - GREAT story!”
Brandy Paige Roberts - “ A rollercoaster of emotions kind of book”

My Thoughts:

Avah doesn’t like being asked to perform favors.  Hawk doesn’t like what he sees but it is of his own making.  We have two separate stories to start this book.  Wanting to find out how the author is going to combine them into one is what kept me reading.

But as I continue reading I had a hard time ever seeing any connection between our main characters.  It felt more like two people going through the motions – keeping their lives separate.  Even having the suspense did nothing to show me how romance was in the future for these two.

Then it felt like a switch got flipped and these two became different people.  I really tried to find that connection that the author was developing but I still couldn’t feel it.  Hawk seems more like a hound dog with double standards.  Avah seemed to have a sad soul.  I was hoping that she would connect to a secondary character that I enjoyed getting to know.

I’ve read almost the whole series and have loved the ones I’ve read, but this one just didn’t do it for me.  It did have bright spots because as I said before there was a secondary character that I liked.  The suspense was also a good way to hold my attention and I like that I got to see a happy ending.  I didn’t mind that there was an age gap between Avah and Hawk.  I also didn’t mind the life that both these people had to lead as they did since that shows the reader who they are.  Not seeing how they came together as a couple was my biggest issue.  But that won’t stop me from reading more of this series.

As an only child, Hayley Faiman had to entertain herself somehow. She started writing stories at the age of six and never really stopped.

Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.

Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in  Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.

Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.
