My Thoughts:
Hope doesn’t have much of that right now. JR has a chip on his shoulder and it’s one that’s not of his making. This story shows that people can feel hurt and how we handle it in different ways. Then enters the voice of reason who happens to give me a chuckle or two.
This is my first book that includes our new reality. I liked the fact that it wasn’t preachy about what we should or shouldn’t do at this time. Most of the time you won’t even think that anything is different before a virus entered our world. The only thing our author does show is some of the subtle changes in how we think, how we interact, and how it now becomes part of our conversations. But you know it’s a work of fiction because not many people would make such a trip at this time - so no making comparisons, just enjoy the ride.
The author is good at getting the reader to feel the emotions that her characters are feeling. She also has the reader feel as if they are apart of what is happening. And when she adds in a little mystery/suspense, I knew that I would find it very hard to look away. Even when things get serious she knows how to lighten the mood by giving us a possible chuckle moment. The sad thing about this story is just like a road trip it soon comes to an end. The good news is you’ll get the perfect ending for our main characters and the better news is you get a sneak peek at a couple of her other books.
