I usually don’t read the blurb at the beginning of the book because I don’t want to go in with any expectations. This time I took the chance and was glad I did. Our author has taken on the subject of someone having a disability but then goes one step further.
Kiera Hamilton works with children with limitations. Cooper “Coop” Nelson is having to learn something new. My smile moment came when Kiera explains about ASL. Everyone serving our country is a hero but there’s something extra special about those that are overcoming adversity. There’s an age gap here but it didn’t make a difference in how I felt about this story.
Coop certainly knows what he wants and I’m happy for him but he just seems too good to be true. We have to remember that he’s fictional otherwise we’d all be fighting over him. In the meantime we can just “sigh” when he walks into a scene.
This is a hero worship story – and I mean for both Cooper and Kiera. There are all different types of heroes in this world and they’re not all in the military or in the public sector. As you get toward the end, a little boy named Frankie stole my heart and brought a tear to my eye. It left me wondering if he would follow in Coop’s footsteps. I was left smiling right up until the very end. Would love to know if they appear in another book in this series.
