Bad boys. They’ve been Ruby Garvan’s weakness since she started dating. But, when one of them took the ‘bad’ in the ‘boy’ too far, her bones broke… along with her spirit.
She swore she’d never go down that road again. Her next boyfriend would be a ‘nice guy’—a man with integrity, goals and a heart of gold.
Armed with a stack of inspirational quotes and a list of traits her new man must have, Ruby goes in search of her happily ever after.
She’s convinced she’s found it with her self-defence instructor—a kind hearted man named Joel, who cares for her deeply. But when Flynn Trotsky literally slams into her life with the force of a steam train, he quickly derails her plans with his unwavering interest and refusal to take no for an answer.
After a drunken night of far too much honesty, the two strike a deal—two weeks for Flynn to show Ruby that he’s not the bad boy she thinks he is. If he can’t convince her, he’ll go away for good this time.
Ruby doesn’t think he stands a chance against her resolve to turn her life around, and agrees to get the pesky dare-devil out of her way and hopefully out of her mind.
But, when your friends are all on his side, the chemistry just might be too palpable for even the most stubborn red-head to ignore….

My Thoughts:
Ms. Anderson created a secondary
character, Coral, that I fell in love with.
Found that she was a perfect complement to Ruby’s character. Coral seems to have the words of wisdom that
Ruby needs to hear. She made some scenes
more enjoyable but there were a few times that she worked awfully hard at
making Ruby happy.
When we are first “introduced” to
Flynn Trotsky, he reminds me of Tangled’s
Flynn Rider. Ruby is mad that she’s
letting a personal incident affect her future so she’s decided to do something
about it. How this affects her
interactions with Flynn is what has you turning the pages. I found great pleasure in how the author
teases both Ruby and her readers by having Flynn pop in and out. We needed someone to keep both Ruby and us
confused and her on her toes. Also had
to love his persistence – how he could see beyond her snarky attitude.
Some may feel that she was rude
to Flynn during their first interactions.
But she has first impressions of him that have shades of her past and
make her a little leery about getting to know him better. Even though we may not understand it, we have
to respect her reasoning. Unless you
have been in her shoes, who are we to judge.
If you can feel so passionately about this than this author has done her
job.
Joel is trying to help Ruby
regain her sense of self and a power that she shut down. They seem to have some things in common but
that doesn’t mean they’re compatible. Or
is it just a crush. After all, crushes
don’t come with an age limit. Do
they? We have to listen to what our
heart wants – especially if we want to be truly happy.
Some may consider this a
standalone. Characters from the previous
book make an appearance that makes me curious about their story. At some point, I’ll have to make sure to
check out A Beautiful Taste – cover’s
not bad either. The history that Ruby
has with these characters is another reason to read the book. And if you want to know whom she has decided
will make her the happiest, you’ll just have to read the book in order to
answer that question.
