There's always trouble in Twin Rivers...

Beacon news reporter Lindsey Fox is on the verge of breaking a huge story of political corruption that will make her career and make her famous journalist parents proud—or she could be thrown in jail and fired. It really could go either way.

Her recent streak of bad luck continues when Lindsey finds herself facing a bogus contempt charge—and attorney Ben Gillespie is appointed to get her out of the slammer. They once had a bad date of epic proportions—stilted conversation, food poisoning, burglary, towed car. Then there was the incident with the pepper spray. Lindsey never believed she’d see the sexy lawyer again.

Ben can totally believe that Lindsey is behind bars. The woman is trouble. Now he has to get his new client out of jail, keep her out of the grasp of a crazed bike messenger and a shady P.I., help her save her job, and convince her to put down the pepper spray and give him another chance.

USA Today best-selling author Ellie Ashe has always been drawn to jobs where she can tell stories—journalist, lawyer, and now writer. Writing quirky romantic mysteries is how she gets the "happily ever after" that so often is lacking in her day job.
When not writing, you can find her with her nose in a good book, watching far too much TV, or trying out new recipes on unsuspecting friends and family. She lives in Northern California with her husband and three cats, all of whom worry when she starts browsing the puppy listings on petfinder.com.

Denice Stradling has a 25-year background in theatre, film, and television. After majoring in Humanities/Theatre in college, she went on to tour with a national theatre company, performing in more than 10 countries in 10 years, as well as directing and leading acting workshops. Audiobooks were a perfect fit to combine her acting skills and her lifelong love of reading.

Denice made a foray into audiobook narration 10 years ago, first doing volunteer work for Learning Ally. Since then, she has worked for Penguin/Random-House, Bee Audio, Harper Audio, Blackstone Audio, Audible, and others. She is also a published writer, having written short fiction for WOMAN'S WORLD magazine, more than 200 greeting cards for various greeting card companies, and devotionals for Augsburg Press. She has also written a novel, which requires editing and publishing, … “and then my narration, when I can find the time!”

Denice lives in the greater Los Angeles area with her husband, whom she met in her high school drama class—she played the heroine and he played the villain in the school's melodrama. Not your typical love story—but it's working!

If you could sum up A Good Kind of Trouble in three words, what would they be?

Riveting, Enjoyable, and Suspenseful

Have you listened to any of Denice Stradling’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first book which Ms. Stradling has narrated. I enjoyed listening to her but couldn't associate her voice with the main character, Lindsey Fox. Her voice didn't fit with someone that's supposed to be young. But that didn't stop me from enjoying having Ms. Stradling read to me. I liked the fact that she didn't attempt making a man's voice by deepening her tone. It would have sounded a little weird if she did.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wouldn't say that I had any extreme reactions but it did have me chuckling every once in awhile. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense which made it hard to stop the book when it came time to get some work done.

Any additional comments?

This story made my drives to and from work more enjoyable.  Also helped when I had errands to run. I can take or leave mysteries but this author did a great job of grabbing my attention and left me wanting more. The romance didn't overtake the mystery that got Lyndsey in trouble in the first place. Ben's character was believable - the author didn't make him out to be a pompous lawyer. He also comes to be impressed with how Lyndsey handles her job. Their relationship is secondary to what actually brought these two together. This audiobook made me a fan of this author's work. Can't wait to see if this series continues.

  2. I love the blurb for A Good Kind of Trouble. This news reporter Lindsey may be having a streak of bad luck, but it sounds like she may be getting a break with her newly appointed attorney. I have a hunch this is going to be a fun read! Adding to my must read list.
