My Thoughts:
Sierra Lane knows how to spin some
pretty wild tales. She’s persistent and
not willing to give up trying. Maliki
Bridges seems to be questioning his sanity.
He shows how men and women can be friends. But make no mistake, you’ll have no trouble
seeing the tension and his strong will coming off the page.
Besides building tension between our
main characters, the author knows just what is going to keep me attached to my
chair. Usually when you read a story
where both main characters talk in the first person, the chapters seem to
alternate between the two. In this case,
this starts with Sierra letting us get to know her and how she feels about
Maliki. Once we get to know enough about
her that’s when we finally get to hear his thoughts. That was the perfect way to make it a little
suspenseful and a real page-turner.
You really don’t know how things are
going to turn out – no cheating and skipping ahead in order to find out. Maliki would make a great book
boyfriend. He doesn’t cross a line that
he’s created – in that way he’s a real gentleman. But he still gets frustrated and so does
Sierra. The author has created a young
woman that on the one hand knows what she wants, does something totally
unexpected, and then turns around and is unsure of herself. That is part of why this story seems so
realistic. The ending is happy but is it
happily ever after? It depends on what
you would like for the couple.
