Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are excited to bring you the Cocky Hero Club: original works from various authors inspired by Keeland and Ward's New York Times bestselling Cocky Bastard series.

Finding an empty foil packet in my husband’s jeans wouldn’t have been surprising—if we’d actually used those in the last decade.

I gave up everything for him and in return, he betrayed me in the worst way.

Sliding down a stripper pole five nights a week isn’t exactly my dream job.

But I did it.

For him.

With my life in shambles, I have to find the strength to start again.

The very last thing I need is a distraction in the form of a feisty, curvaceous stripper.

When her version of a lap dance catches more than just my attention—I have to see where she leads me.

It can’t be forever.

But whatever it is—I’ll take it.

For now.

*Hot Shot Hero is a contemporary romance inspired by Playboy Pilot.

My Thoughts:

The author’s Dedication comes from the heart and maybe a little inspiration.  She has an interesting way to introduce us to her story.  It had me wondering what other surprises I may encounter.

Chloe is a woman who has a lot on her plate but is still willing to lend a hand.  Rhys needs to be knocked down a peg or two.  At the very least an attitude adjustment.  Not long into the book and I can see why this makes a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club world.

The steam starts early on.  But there’s the other side where you wonder how someone appearing to be into their own self importance could have any redeeming qualities.  Usually a book is a page turner because of the interactions between the main characters.  In this instance it was all on Rhys.

How is an author going to turn a jerk into a prince charming was one theme used – no frog was harmed here.  She does a great job in showing that some people can change.  They just need to have the right people in their lives.  I’m not going to tell you any more because you need to experience it for yourself.  The only thing I will tell you is that at some point as you are getting to the end you will need some tissue, or at least a sleeve, because there’s a very heartfelt ending.

I can also tell you that when I went to rate this, I had a number all set by the time I got to the halfway point.  But being a quiet weekend, I just sat and concentrated on what the author had created.  That’s the point where everything changed and I knew I rated it too low and once I read the last chapter the rating had to be amended.  My personal opinion is that if you like a story where redemption is a theme and giving to others in need is close to your heart then you may want to see what this book is all about.

Jessa lives in a very non-descript, unassuming town filled with the best kind of people. Most days, she can be found in the stands of various soccer fields, cheering her on her Youngest, or discussing books with her Oldest (who is an English Honors student).

At night, if she’s not up burning the midnight oil, Jessa enjoys snuggling up to her real life chef hubby and watching his latest pick for a cheesy romance movie. He always chooses the best ones. (after he cooks supper, of course)
