In a cold, empty castle, a young queen is dying.
Weak. Fragile. Disgraced.
But Queen Whitestone is not alone in her final days.
She has her beloved sister.
Until a wicked king rides onto her land.
Arrogant. Insufferable. Demanding.
King Bloodsun has come with an offer…peace in trade for a bride.
He wants the princess.
The fiery king won’t take no for an answer.
He vows to keep the cold queen captive until she gives in to his demands.
A queen bows for no one, though.
Not even when she’s frail and fading away.
She’ll tap into her strength, protecting the only family she has left.
The king is about to learn why they call her the cruel one…
Elzira Whitestone had to grow up fast
in order to fulfill familial responsibilities.
Ryke Bloodsun wants something that will be beneficial to him and the
people he rules. Both seem to have
hearts but have obligations that may have had a part in keeping it closed
off. The interesting part comes as we
get to watch them break down the wall that has encased said heart.
If I have to give you one piece of
advice it would be to be careful if you like to eat as you read. Our author is very good with her
descriptions. There’s no way for you to
have an issue picturing any scene that has been written. With All Hallows’ Eve just around the corner
this would make a perfect read. There’s just
enough suspense to have you hold your breath.
There’s enough of a mystery so that
you have to keep reading in order to figure out whodunit. And there’s enough romance that may you have wondering
what they see in each other. There were
some surprises. The first would be me
since I actually got something right and I can count on one hand how many times
that has happened. Another is the happy
ending but it fits in perfectly when you see the story how the story progressed. The last surprise that isn’t really much of a
surprise is that I can’t wait to see what the next sinister fairy tale will
have in store for the reader.
