I was only eighteen years old when I thought I had found my happily ever after.
After the tragic death of my mother, I married the love of my life, Ace Townsend.
Yes, we were young and idealistic, but we had it all figured out. He was going to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force. I would go to medical school to become a doctor for people who couldn’t afford healthcare. People like my mother.
But, like everything else in my life, that dream fell apart when I realized Ace was better off without me.
So I left.
Sixteen years later, I’m forced to return to Harlington, Texas. Not for my sake, but to save the one person in my life who matters to me the most.
Even if it means confronting my estranged husband and abiding by his stipulation to move in with him temporarily. If that’s what it takes for him to sign the divorce papers so that I can receive my inheritance and save an innocent life, I’ll do it.
I just have to keep my heart locked away for the next six months.
That’s proving to be easier said than done.
My Forever is an interracial romance (BWWM) and is book three in the Townsends of Texas series. This book contains mature, steamy love scenes. Happily Ever After is guaranteed.

What was the process that turned a passion into a profession? Is there some advice that you would give a reader that has the same thought?
I have always been an avid reader. Since I was a little girl, I have loved reading everything from The Babysitter’s Club to Goosebumps, Sweet Valley High, autobiographies on people like Helen Keller, Marian Anderson, and more. The desire to learn and know more about the world we live in fueled my love of reading. However, it wasn’t until I stumbled upon the world of romance during my first year as a teacher that ignited my fire for this particular genre.
I taught in a particularly stressful school district, and at the end of the day, I needed to decompress. A trip to a local bookstore found me going home with a book by the author Francis Ray. I devoured it and soon bought the entire series, and then the next. As most romance readers know, that spiraled into a new world of discovery for me. At the same time, Amazon’s Kindle became more popular. At first, I was vehemently opposed to reading ebooks. I was a bit of a paperback snob. But then I realized that with ebooks, I didn’t have to wait three to five days for a book to arrive at my doorstep. The rest is history.
Writing became a natural outspring of my affinity for stories. Over the years, I started daydreaming about different characters and scenarios that I wanted to write about. In 2014, I began reading books featuring alpha men and billionaire types. At the same time, I came across a short documentary about burlesque dancers in New York City. While I watched, I wondered what a book about a possessive alpha male who fell in love with a woman who danced burlesque would look like. My very next thought was, I should write that book.
And that’s exactly what I did. Soon, I found a small indie publisher who published in my subgenre, and I sent her the first three chapters of my book, and she loved it. Within a few short weeks, I signed with her publishing company. That was seven years ago, and I have been fortunate enough that writing has turned into my full-time career.
As for readers who want to become authors, first, I say, congratulations! Making that leap takes a lot of courage, and I commend you for starting. Second, I will say, find people you can trust to give you honest feedback. Sometimes this can be family and friends, but sometimes not. Friends and family don’t want to hurt your feelings, or maybe they don’t read the genre you write in. You want to find people who read in your genre, who will give you honest, but not cruel feedback. There are tons of writing communities online or even in your local communities. I highly encourage anyone to get feedback on their writing.
My second piece of advice would be to write through the doubt. Even after over forty books published and doing this full-time for five years, I still regularly come up against self-doubt. I have had to learn to write through it. It’s cliché, but you really can’t edit a blank page. Let your first draft suck. It’s okay. The voice in your head that tells you, you suck is a liar. Don’t believe it!
I have always been fascinated by storytelling, books, and reading. After years of diving in between the pages of one romance book after another, I decided to try my hand at writing. I haven't looked back since. I enjoy bringing my readers stories of hope, perseverance, and most importantly, love. When I'm not writing you can find me enjoying time with friends, hiking, or daydreaming about my next novel.
