Power. Money. Status.
Whatever I want, I get.
And if something stands in my way?
I conquer and destroy it.
I’m a monster with no redeeming qualities.
A hunter who seeks his prey so viciously nothing can stop me.
My prey hides in the shadows thinking it might save him from my wrath.
It won't.
A true hunter knows one rule:
Every prey can be lured out of the darkness with the right bait.
And I just found mine.
His daughter.
The monster inside me craves to possess her.
A beauty who ends up trapped in a castle by the horrible beast.
Seducing and then breaking her will be my greatest conquest.
After all, la vida es cruel.
Life is cruel.
And so am I.

My Thoughts:
Santiago is a man who holds himself above everyone else. He loves what he does maybe a little too much. He takes pleasure from pain. Briseis hasn’t found someone who makes her happy. I get the impression that she doesn’t have any high hopes of that ever happening. But hope is ever present even if you have to dig deep to look for it.
Santiago is a man of mystery but he doesn’t reveal anything unless he, and the author, wants to. And I’m happy with that because that is what keeps me turning the page. But I do have to give you a warning. As you get to know him, things can get pretty graphic and if violence is an issue for you just be prepared. You just need to remind yourself that this is a work of fiction and nothing here is real even though it seems so realistic.
As you read each chapter, there’s no mistaking the amount of work this author put into creating her story. At one point the suspense was killing me and I so wanted to jump ahead. Having to stay true to the story I held myself in check. I felt that if I did jump ahead then I might miss something important that these characters are revealing.
Not everyone that looks perfect on the outside is perfect on the inside. We all have flaws but it’s how we deal with them that makes us different. Everyone deserves a chance at love – even if it’s hard to come by. The author shows the different aspects that people have. Some of it may make you angry, bring a tear to your eye, get you to chuckle but the ending will get you to smile. Characters from some of the author’s other work make appearances here – I have a lot of catching up to do.

About the Author:
V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her momma over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it. When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
