They’ve been hired to remodel a mansion. Will they end up getting a room?
Marisa Sanchez has grand designs for her future. After taking over her grandfather’s construction firm, the successful vlogger and civil engineer is about to take the next step with a new show on the Home Design Network. But she’s not pleased to find out she can only have the lucrative gig if she agrees to work with a handsome rival.
Levi Chance takes the responsibility of providing for his brothers seriously. So when his biggest client asks him to come into the spotlight to co-host a new program, he reluctantly accepts. But he fears the pretty, camera-loving partner he’s been assigned might bring his top-notch reputation tumbling down if she can’t deliver the goods.
Discovering her teammate is quite capable, Marisa battles her attraction to him as she ambitiously turns the project upside down. And the more Levi works with the smart Latina, the more he worries he’s about to push the “no sex” morality clause in their contract into forbidden territory.
Will Marisa and Levi’s fixer-upper turn into a happily together forever?
Renovated is the charming first book in the moving Chance Brothers contemporary romance series. If you like sparkling attractions, comedic moments, and steamy action, then you’ll love Nikki Kiley’s well-built romp.
Excerpt:
“I recognize this is out of left field, but an opportunity came up. One of our power couple shows just announced their divorce—something to do with an au pair, and believe me, the situation has gotten hideous.”
I looked at Marisa. Her shoulders went rigid, her eyes turning sharp and assessing, hands fisted in her lap. Neither of us uttered a word, letting Rebecca have the stage.
“Marisa, I’ve been hitting a wall with pitching the show we originally spoke about. They didn’t think the target market would watch TV and become viewers, but if we made it another couple show with a twist __” her head tilted to us as if it was apparent what she meant.
Marisa’s back went ramrod straight where she perched on the chair.
She stammered in bewilderment. “Wait . . . you want us to partner up?” Her face filled with disbelief—and was that disgust I was seeing? “That was not the deal you gave me when you got in touch with me. What do I need Mr. Chance for?”
Rebecca responded like a parent explaining to a child why they can’t have dessert before eating their veggies. “The network always partners up with a construction company. The Chance Brothers have done most of the projects in this area for us. The decision to make this a show about two people working toward a common goal comes from above. It is a straightforward decision. It’s a yes or no situation. I’m hoping you both will take it since I see the potential, but it’s not just up to me.”
Working with a drama queen wasn’t on my wish list either, but I wasn’t getting into a pissing contest here. I was interested in seeing where this would go. Rebecca’s mother gave me my first break in the business when I did a gut job on their estate home on Star Island. Mrs. Walton monitored that project just like she ran the Home Network, ensuring I came in on budget and on time.
This time I directed myself to the Latin bombshell in front of me. “Ms. Sánchez, I am here to listen to what is on the table just as much as you. Besides writing about design and posting online about it, what have you done?”
Given her intake of breath, I knew I had hit a sore spot.
