How much weight can a man take on his shoulders before he buckles?
Blue’s life is in shambles.
He has to fight off his MC brotherhood on a drug problem threatening his town, balance his time as a father while dealing with a vicious custody battle with his ex, and somehow manage the huge load of responsibilities of his job. All the while, he is fighting his attraction to the quiet shopkeeper who lives just across the street from him. The last thing he wants is to take her down with him.
Psalm’s life is uneventful.
Finally healed after the heartache of losing her husband, kind-souled Psalm throws herself into her store and rescuing dogs. Her crush on Blue can be traced back to high school so many years ago, and even after being widowed, she still carries a torch for him. From the sidelines, she aches for Blue and his children.
With hercaring nature, she reaches out to him, over and over again, even when he pushes her away. Is Psalm’s heart strong enough to take on this broken man and heal him?

My Thoughts:
I have to disagree with Psalm Kopolove about her assessment of dogs
and alarms. My dog hated to get up in
the morning. I was her alarm clock but
she always grumbled when it was time to get up so I would let her sleep until
it was almost time for me to go to work.
One thing that impressed me about Psalm was that she’s one of those
heroes that fosters dogs. I like the
idea but don’t see how you can do it and have a full-time job that requires so
much of your time. Something else I
liked was part of her morning routine. I
would love to shadow her sometime.
Jason “Blue” Davis is a man who’s struggling. He tries to protect those that need it but
you can see his frustration when it comes to those he cares about. One such frustration was a b*tchy woman that
our author was very good at creating.
You know how creative she is when I want two minutes alone with said
character. But she also does a good job
at pulling at my heartstrings. She
creates two smaller characters that you want to wrap your arms around.
When you see the title of the series you think, “MC romance”. But this is so much more. Blue’s family heads an MC but his life is the
opposite of what you would expect a son to have. And that’s one thing I loved about this book
because I get the unexpected. It held my
attention and had me looking forward to seeing what’s around the next
corner. Plus there was a certain someone
that I wanted to see get their just desserts.
I really came to care for Psalm as I got to know her better. She does so much for dogs and has a job that
makes people happy. And knowing that she
wants a certain someone, you keep your fingers crossed that her heart speaks
loud enough for his to hear. I also
liked that the author made me wait for it too.
She took her time to develop her characters and their storyline first. And the ending couldn’t have been any better –
one last tug of the heart.
Also Available:
ML Nystrom had stories in her head since she was a child. All sorts of stories of fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured her interest. A voracious reader, she’s spent many hours devouring books; therefore, she found it only fitting she should write a few herself!
ML has spent most of my life as a performing musician and band instrument repair technician, but that doesn’t mean she’s pigeon-holed into one mold. She’s been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and whatever else she felt like exploring. As one of her students said to her once, "Life’s too short to ignore the opportunities." She has no intention of ever stopping... so welcome to her story world. She hopes you enjoy it!
