Sergei Orlov has lived a life of dark corruption. Denying himself any bit of normalcy and happiness as a way to protect his family—of blood or Bratva.

He’s seen as a savior to his men, living in darkness behind closed doors.

Raisa was a girl sold into a life of sexual servitude. Memories of her life before—forgotten. She aspires to be cherished by a man who will forever keep her as his own, never to be sold, abused, or traded again.

A favor asked, turns into something else, something unquestionably beautiful. Sergei cannot deny that Raisa stirs something inside of him. Something that he has never felt before.

One fractured savior. One shattered soul. When the two collide, their lives take on new meaning.

Sergei Orlov’s head and heart are not in a good place right now. He’s been asked to do something that most men couldn’t handle. Raisa is not in a good place and needs help from the one person who can get her there. You get no sense of any age difference until Sergei actually tells us how old he is. But even after that his age doesn’t matter. It’s his behavior that should matter.

Don’t tell the Bratva but he has a heart buried under that tough exterior. Make no mistake, he lives and breathes a certain lifestyle. It’s a lifestyle where there are certain expectations on how a woman/submissive should behave and how he’s a good representative of his “family”. If this is something you’re not comfortable with then this book/series may not be for you – especially considering how dark this is. If you’re the more adventurous type it may be something to try.

Sergei disclosed something that had me raise my eyebrows. For the reader he does not romanticize the life that leads to being Bratva – just keeping it real. And this is why as a reader we have to remember that unless told otherwise this is a work of fiction. No one actually got hurt at the expense of our enjoyment. An open mind is needed when reading this story. It shows a lot of this author’s creativity. I would think it would be difficult, if not near impossible, to interview anyone in the positions we see our main characters.

It’s been almost a year since I read one of the books in the Russian Bratva series – how time flies. I didn’t need to go back and read the book over again in order to enjoy Sergei and Raisa’s story - this book can stand on its own. It just reminds me of how many books I’ve missed. Even when I got to the end at no time did I feel as if something was missing. But I did feel as if a hit that invisible brick wall because it seemed to be a little abrupt. I felt as if I turned to the next page their story would continue – but alas, no.

I was born and raised in California. My husband and I met when I was just 16. We were married a few years later, moving to Oregon while he was in the US Coast Guard.
Texas is now where we call home, where our boots rest, and where we're raising our two little boys and a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.
