Blurb:

The biggest story of her life is the one he wants to hide.

I’m homeless by choice.
I have no intention of returning to my former life after what I’ve done.
This—living among the filth and discarded remnants of others—is what I deserve.
As atonement for my sins, I give back; I help those who cannot help themselves. But it’s always under the guise of anonymity.
Newspaper headlines throughout the city are clamoring to discover my identity.  Including the beautiful woman who manages to see through my “armor.”
She has the capability to put my entire life at risk.

My Thoughts:

Faith Connors is one of those people where some of the adults in her life have failed her.  Our author has created an interesting character.  He’s a man who’s conflicted.  But you’ll come to realize how important he is to this story.  Jude Sullivan’s story is raw.  He tells us what his life is like – there’s no sugarcoating anything.  But he has a compassionate side.  He cares for those that are as bad off if not worse than he is.

His actions remind me of the man who was in the news that helped a couple with his last twenty dollars.  This is a story that shows the stark reality of things we don’t see – or look the other way.  We know they exist but most of us don’t even think of it which when you think about it is pretty sad.  But there will be those that understand because they’ve been in that place.

The author writes a scene between Faith and a secondary character, Father James, that had me feeling as if I became a part of what was going on – I’m a silent observer.  The more I read and got to know the main characters, Jude seemed to really speak to me.  The title is well suited to this book because it fits both Jude and Father James perfectly.  It’s one that reminded me of one of my favorite stories that my Sunday school teacher told me.  Now as an adult, I like this author’s version.  One difference between the two stories, besides the obvious, is that this version has an Epilogue that brought shivers down my spine and a tear to my eye.

Author Bio:

RC Boldt currently lives on the southeastern coast of the U.S., enjoys long walks on the beach, running, reading, people watching, and singing karaoke. If you're in the mood for some killer homemade mojitos, can't recall the lyrics to a particular 80's song, or just need to hang around a nonconformist who will do almost anything for a laugh, she's your girl.
