Book Junkie Girls Presents: Rush by C.A. Harms; #BookTour, #OutNow, #NewRelease

Title: Rush
Series: Montgomery Men #1
Author: C.A. Harms
Genre: Contemporary/Suspense Romance
Release Date: Available Now

I was running from my husband, a man I thought I’d known.
Running from the hell he had put me through.
He’d nearly destroyed the woman I had once been and
I would do whatever it took to regain my freedom.
I would lie, and cheat.
I would steal if it meant that I never had to go back there.
I’d run and keep running…
But there was one problem. I hadn’t planned for Ashton Montgomery.
He was a distraction I couldn’t allow. Not if I wanted to stay safe. I had to remain distant, but he was relentless and had other ideas.
I caved because I hadn’t thought it all through, not in detail.

If I had I would’ve realized that you can only live in a fantasy world for so long before everything came crashing in around you.
And those lives you’ve destroyed along the way, make you no better than the monster you were trying to break free from.
How could I have been so careless?
It wasn’t meant to turn out this way.
But the Rush of my freedom took control and I forgot how important it was to keep the secret of who I had once been.
And now I had nothing.
Only the fear that the man I’d run from would find me again, and finish what he started.

EXCERPT!

She’d turned on her heel and begun to walk toward my office door when without a second thought I hooked her around the waist and pulled her body back against my own. She yelped, but I didn’t let it halt me.
The smell of her perfume mixed with her shampoo filled my nostrils, and for a moment I just took in the fragrance. I had never smelled anything more appealing. “Let me prove it to you,” I whispered. She was tense in my arms, and I knew I needed to tread lightly. Something told me that telling her I wanted nothing more than to pin her against the wall, reach beneath her skirt, and find the spot that drove her crazy would only terrify her. Yes, my usual tactics would not work on Kiera.

“Have dinner with me,” I whispered against her ear. “You pick the place and the time, anywhere you want.” I fought the urge to demand her presence, which was my usual method because most women I ran across said yes without hesitation.

But she wasn’t like the women I’d been with in the past.
“Today was refreshing after all the tension faded,” she confessed, and I felt relieved that she thought so too. But it faded as she continued to speak. “I think it’s best that we keep things between us strictly professional. I just don’t have room in my life for anything more.”
I felt like she’d just kicked me in the nuts.
“I don’t know what happened to you,” I said in return, and though she tensed in my arms again, I went on. “I don’t know why you’re so scared of giving this thing between us a chance, but I won’t give up. It’s not who I am, Kiera. I’m a fighter, and when I have my sights set on something I want, I don’t give up until I’ve won.”

I moved closer, making sure she could feel my lips against her neck when I continued to talk. “And you are all I think about. It’s quite distracting.”
Chills covered her neck and shoulder as she shivered in my arms.

Fighting my arousal was becoming more and more of a challenge. I was so fucking wired and turned on I felt like my balls were about to explode.
“I don’t lie, and I don’t hide the way I feel.” I closed my eyes tightly and tipped my head just enough that her hair brushed against the tip of my nose. God, her scent was pure heaven. “I want you, Kiera,” I confessed, becoming lost in her presence, lost to the feel of my body pressed tightly against hers. “I know that seems to terrify you, but I need you to know. I won’t stay away; I can’t. I want to feel you against me, hold you close, and hear the sound of your pants in my ear. I won’t lie to you, Kiera,” I reiterated. “I won’t ever lie to you.”
I pressed a soft kiss against the base of her neck, and for a moment she went stock-still. As if she was terrified of what I may do next. That thought left a bad feeling in my stomach. Did she actually think I would force her to do anything she wasn’t completely willing to do?
I slowly released her, stepping back to put some space between us. My own heart was racing, and she wasn’t the only one that needed some distance.
She kept her back to me as we both remained perfectly still, just calmly breathing. I didn’t speak for fear of spooking her. I’d already told her my intentions. I hoped that was enough.

And when she reached for the door, pulled it open, and walked out without looking back, I felt like she took a part of me with her. I sagged in disappointment as I listened to the fading sound of her heels clicking against the tile floor.

: : MEET THE AUTHOR : :

Novelist, movie addict, and animal lover, Cristina Slough is the author of:

Till Death Us Do Part, her debut novel.

Cristina has always been a bookworm, rarely seen without a pen and paper in her hand, she loves delving into a literacy fictional world of her own.

At the age of 11, her junior school teacher told her mother that she would be wasting her life if she didn’t become an author. Throughout her teenage years and beyond, her parents spurred her on to keep writing. She later began a career in commercial real estate, working in London’s West End, a corporate bubble where she was unable to fuel her passion to write.

It was on her Californian honeymoon in 2012 that the bug to write was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. After visiting Yosemite National Park she was inspired by the natural beauty of the land that surrounded her. Holding a special place in her heart, Yosemite would later be written into her debut novel.

She finally gave up the ‘big smoke’ when her son, Lucas, was born in October 2013.

When Lucas was a newborn, Cristina was told to sleep when the baby sleeps. She never could. There was a calling inside her to write. After getting to grips with her new role as a mother, she began working a psychological thriller, but she couldn’t fully connect to the characters she created. She ditched the manuscript and started Till Death Us Do Part(Limitless Publishing, 2015).

Cristina is married to Adam, who runs a successful business; together they share their Bedfordshire home with their son, crazy white German Shepherd and three spoiled cats. They can be found trekking through woodlands, or around the many shops Cristina loves to explore. As a family, they love to travel frequently, the United States being a firm favourite.

- EXCERPT -

I can’t move. My arms, my legs, they won’t budge.
It’s pitch-black, but I think I’m inside of something. Something long and smalla capsule, maybe? Stretched out above my head, my fingers touch cold metal. Whatever I’m inside of is only as long as I am. I wouldn’t have much wiggle room, even if I could move.
I don’t know how I got here or how long I’ve been tied up. I do a quick mental scan, searching for any piece of information. Nothing. I can’t even recall my own name.
What I do know is I’m running out of oxygen. Each breath comes shorter, faster, and if I can’t control it soon, I’ll pass out before I figure out what’s going on.
I close my eyes, suck in one deep breath, and let it out through puckered lips.
Calm down.
Relax.
Slow your heart rate.
What I tell myself comes from memory, though I have no clue where it came from.
Whatever it is, though, it works. Somehow, my body is trained to go into hibernation mode on mental command.
Now I need to figure out how to get out of here. With my eyes still closed, I concentrate on the smell of my prison. The more I know about this box, the better my chances are of escaping. The tang of what I inhale reminds me of burnt metal and rubber. There’s another scent too, one I can’t place, even
though my brain insists I know. I dig deeper, filing through blank spaces that aren’t supposed to be empty. I probably shouldn’t be spending precious energy on it, but something tells me this strange odor is important.
Bright light pours over my face, and my eyelids fly open. Above me, sunlight streams through a circular window. I don’t know how long it will last, so I quickly confirm that I am inside some sort of
capsule with silver metal walls. I also confirm that I was right earlier: the tube is small, barely big enough to fit my body. The window sits exactly six inches from the tip of my nose, though I have no idea how I know that.
I see nothing above me except blue skies. I don’t hear anything outside either.
I tug at the restraints holding me in place, but they don’t give. And then I feel something, something on the outside. The capsule I’m in is moving—upward. Shit.
Calm down. Relax. Slow your heart rate, I repeat to myself.
It’s working. My body is responding—
Until I begin to free fall.
I’m not in it for long before the tube hits water. I know it’s water because of the buoyancy of the capsule. But I know because of something else too—I feel it. Surrounding me, the water gives off its own energy, almost as if it’s surrendering to me, willing me to control it. Which makes no sense.
Above me, the sunlight begins to refract as it struggles to break through the water now covering the tiny window. That’s when I realize I’m sinking. Deeper, deeper underwater.
As the light fades, the panic inside me rises. I try the calming mantra again, but nothing happens. Drops of water fall onto my forehead. The seal around my window creaks under the pressure of the water.
I’m going to drown.
I struggle against the restraints. Twisting my body. Pulling at my wrists and ankles. I yank and kick, but it’s in vain. I’m trapped.
“Fuck!”
I scream.
Water sprays in from the seal, salty like the ocean, and suddenly I register where I am—in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of South Korea. Except, I still don’t know why I’m here or how I got here.
What I do know is that this is where I’m going to die.

HEA Book Tours & Book Junky Tours Presents: Your Heart to Keep by Amanda Mackey; #Book Tour & #Review

YOUR HEART TO KEEP
Author: Amanda Mackey
This is a stand alone novel
Genre: Romance
Rating:  5 Stars
Told in the First Person.

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from HEA Book Tours, Book Junky Tours, and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

- SYNOPSIS -
What would you do if the heart you loved ended up in a stranger?

For bad boy Jax, that's exactly what happens. His lover, Chloe has died in the car accident they were both involved in. Grieving for his lost love, Jax soon discovers that she was an organ donor and her heart, the very one he vowed to love, always, has been given to a stranger.

Holly Jenkins has a medical condition that requires a new heart. Having been on the organ registry for thirteen months, she finally gets the call she's been waiting for.

After the surgery she begins to crave things she never has before and has the inherent need to connect with Jax and the family of Chloe.

What she doesn't expect is the strong pull towards a guy who doesn't want a bar of her and can't come to terms with the fact that Holly now has his girlfriend's heart.

It isn't until he literally feels the pulse of his dead girlfriends, beating heart that things change...

My Thoughts:

Holly Jenkins is a young woman with lots of challenges.  Jaxon Reynolds is a man in a lot of pain.  His pain gives her new hope.  This story shows both the sadness and happiness that comes with organ donation.  It’s a great inspiration to those on the fence whether or not to sign up.  It gives the reader another perspective that you don’t think about.

Jaxon had me laughing at one point, even though at times this book took on a very serious theme.  He gives an interesting spin on why men wear beards.  But this book can also bring tears to your eyes so make sure to keep tissue handy.  The author has a way of getting across to her readers how real the hurt and pain these characters feel is.

This is a story that I sat back and just enjoyed the story for what it was.  It had a very important message but she wrote it in such a way that it makes you wonder how much of a personal knowledge she may have on the subject.  But she didn’t stop there.  Holly had another physical challenge that she had to overcome.  I applaud her for going the extra mile.  It all felt so real.  This is a book that I can see myself reading again and also recommending to others.  Our author has made me a fan and I can’t wait to read more.
