One night stands.
Career-driven Ali Whitman, never dreamed of having one, until she finds herself waking up next to a handsome tattooed man she knows nothing about. After celebrating her promotion to field reporter at Entertainment Rocks! magazine, she breaks her number one rule - to focus on work without the distraction of the opposite sex.
Rules.
Tyler Young lives by his own set. As bassist for Devil’s Garden, he exudes sexual energy and lives for the moment; no strings attached, no regrets, and no looking back.
When the two are brought face to face during an interview it goes sour, sparking a string of disasters. As their feelings for each other grow, they find themselves living by a new set of rules, but demons from the past haunt their new found love. Is it possible to crawl from the ashes of the aftermath or will it all go down in flames?
Love.
Perfect bliss or complete disaster?
Allison
“Ali” Whitman’s day seems to be off to a bad start. I’ve been having a rough time lately and I
feel bad about laughing at her bad day but it certainly made me feel
better. It also has me looking forward
to how this author continues her story.
Before I even finished chapter three I knew I was hooked and not going
anywhere.
Tyler
Young’s in an up and coming band. He’s
an interesting character. In one way he
seems to be a perfect fit as a band member but when he’s around Ali he seems to
be different. Almost felt as if I should
take a road trip – as if I’m following the band as they go on tour. Would need to take the book and I would read
some as they come to one of the cities where they plan to play.
This
is a band that you will want to get to know – you’re never too old to be a
groupie. It did have me wondering about
the research involved with the author’s characters. Did she follow a band around to get a sense
of who her cast of characters would be? What
type of music did she play as she was crafting this tale?
You
can almost understand where the title to the book comes from. Ali seems to be a walking disaster area – and
I just couldn’t help laughing at her misfortunes. This just makes the characters seem more
alive – real. The story is like a rollercoaster
ride without having a stomach upset. It
will be interesting to see which band member is next. And I know there’s at least one book already
out that I will need to add to my TBR list.
He takes a few steps closer and pulls me toward him by my hips. “No one will die if we’re a few minutes late.”
Oh no, I’m not getting blamed for this too. I already have enough going against me when it comes to his band mates. No need to give them another reason to hate me.
“He who hesitates is lost.” I step into the shower. Okay, my brain turned to auto-pilot and refuses to let me curb all desires.
He winks. “I like the way you think, babe.” He joins me in the shower and positions the shower head so it pulses on his chest. “Ready to get wet?”
Way ahead of you.
“I’ve never met a girl like you. You tell me exactly how it is. You’re not afraid to try something you never thought you’d do. You’re smokin’ hot with a brain like Einstein. Hell, you even wrote smut about my band in a national magazine and I still can’t get you off my mind.” He presses his forehead against mine. “Don’t you get it? I want you and not just for the few months I’m in L.A. You’ve survived an earthquake and shark attack with me. You’re the one I want by my side in a zombie apocalypse, babe.”
Heat flushes through my body like wildfire. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard would involve the terms shark attack and zombie apocalypse. I’m in, much deeper than I’ve ever imagined. I want this to work with Tyler, but the obstacles aren’t easy to overcome. Yeah I know, nothing great is ever easy, but being together requires Tyler to change his whole outlook on what he wants. Is he ready to do that? I’m finally getting to a place in my career where I want to be, too. I’m not ready to give it up before it starts. We need to think with our brains rather than our hearts. Is there really a chance for us?
