Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from InkSlinger PR and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

About The Traitor’s Bride:

On her untamed gift hinges the future of a planet—and her lover’s life…

A month ago, ex-army Major Areg Sebi was thrown into prison.

Now he’s on the scaffold, laying his head on the block.

No public trial for the disgraced war hero. No cyborgs from the League of Realms to whisk him away.

No help. No escape.

A priestess chants a prayer for the major’s soul, even as a judge cries out, “Death to the traitor!”

In the crowd below, laundry maid Etana Tidryn stares into Areg’s eyes.

His lips were hot against hers last night. His hands roamed her body, worshipped her, pleasured her.

She’s falling for him, hard and fast.

She’s still hoping, even if he’s given up…

Can Etana transcend everything she knows—transcend life itself—to save him?

Can she rise to meet her destiny?

My Thoughts:

Etana Tidryn is both sad and mad about the turn of events.  She’s a great advocate for what she believes in.  She’s also a very brave woman who wants more out of her life than what the government says.  Areg Sebi is a man who has had to endure a lot for what he believes in - something that has gone on throughout history.

This is a story that shows that injustice can occur anywhere.  You may think that you have a right to express your thoughts.  The powers that be will always have something to say or do about that.  But don’t that stifle your voice.  As you can see, there’s a lot more going on than what’s between our main characters.  But that can happen when an author is creating a world and the people in it.

When an author writes science fiction/paranormal the sky’s the limit.  The possibilities of what this author can do is without end.  It comes with a lot of pressure because the author has to create something that doesn’t exist.  As readers we tend to compare things to what we know and see but here that’s not possible.  And yet that’s not to say that I didn’t do that here.  It made me think of the social injustice in our own history.  And your mind can soar as to what may be possible outside our little planet.

Some readers may give up on an author because her book just has a lot going on.  But this one is the beginning of what is coming next.  I want to see where this author is going to lead her readers.  Plus anything that has me sitting with my feet up with a blanket to keep me warm can’t be all bad.  Then to find that the author left me hanging… Good thing the wait isn’t too long to see what comes after the cliffhanger.

About Alix Nichols:

Alix Nichols is an unapologetic caffeine addict and a longtime fan of Mr. Darcy, especially in his Colin Firth incarnation.

According to Romantic Times, her books "will keep you hanging off the edge of your seat”. Kirkus Reviews claims they “deliver pure pleasure”.

At the age of six, Alix released her first romance. It featured highly creative spelling on a dozen pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper.

Miniseries:  A Killer Need
eISBN:  9781459290365
File Size:  364 KB

Description:

The explosive follow-up to Joely Sue Burkhart's darkly erotic thriller One Cut Deeper

Life on the run with an assassin hasn't been what Ranay thought it would be. In fact, parts of it more closely resemble a sex-fueled vacation—until duty calls. The FBI believe Charlie's brother is working for a human trafficking ring, and Charlie is the only one who can bring him down.

Charlie fears Vincent has become a murderous monster like their father. He owes a mercy to the brother he remembers, the one who'd never want to be an uncontrollable killer. But Charlie has never had to kill someone he loves. Not even to save them from a dark, inherited curse.

Killing his brother might be enough to push him over the edge.

Enough to ruin everything he's built with Ranay.

*

As a bodyguard for the Vlasenko bratva, the very cruelest arm of the Russian mob, Vincent Gyres has seen and survived the worst the world has to offer. Former Special Forces, ex-CIA and a past inmate at Russia's most brutal prison, he's earned his reputation. They call him Ghost because he's already dead inside.

Madison "Mads" Archer's hatred for scumbags who traffic in human lives is personal—her sister was taken when the girls were just children. Now Madison's on a joint FBI task force, deep undercover as a sex slave. It's a small price to pay to see the Vlasenko bratva taken down.

A violent criminal like Vincent Gyres doesn't make a trustworthy ally, regardless of his CIA background. But Mads will use anyone and anything to stop the taking of another innocent young girl's life. Vincent's invitation to her to play his submissive in order to get closer to the leader isn't the problem. Trusting him, wanting him…loving him is.

Title:  Brass & Bone

Author:  Cynthia Gael
eISBN:  9781426896743
File size: 549 KB

Being Simon Thorne, friend and collaborator to Lady Abigail Moran, isn't easy. Yes, being a daring thief does have its charms. But I still haven't convinced Abigail that she loves me, and thievery, for all the romantical writers say of it, is not the way to wealth. Especially if Abigail insists we continuously repair the airship with our ill-gotten gains.

So when an old friend summons us to his estate and offers us a daring job with a hefty paycheck, we're happy to accept. The mission: use our airship to transport secret cargo halfway across the globe. Oh, and we mustn't forget to take along the witch and her sinister keeper. A witch more beguiling than expected and her keeper--or is that companion?--with secrets darker than one could imagine.

Alas. Perhaps I have finally bitten off more than I can chew...

Eric is a soldier and right from the beginning we see how strong he is.  Myra starts the action right from the first chapter.  This story continues book one titled Love’s Captive.

Eric has come to Volarn to see his sister. They are at a ceremony when he looks at a woman standing near Rhamus.  Kasha is seen attending the Tartha ceremony.  It’s a place she doesn’t want to be.  But then he walks up to her.  She doesn’t make anything easy.

Myra puts her readers into a world that we don’t think exists.  She also develops a language but she doesn’t make it so difficult that you can’t figure out what she’s talking about.  She has made Eric a soldier but he’s also a man who cares about things around him.

While Kasha and Eric are out they discover something that Kasha doesn’t believe exists.  You will find that this animal they discover will steal every scene Myra writes him into.  He’s just so loveable.  He will also make you laugh.  You may also start to reminisce about your pet.

If you love to read outside, this is the perfect book to find a place in a park, maybe a beautiful garden, or even in your favorite chair with some favorite music to listen to.  But Myra has also left me wondering if she has a book three for her readers.  I want to learn more about the residents of Volarn.  We will just have to wait and see if Eric’s sister has a story.  Maybe even Jarvic has a happy ending in store for him.  But in the meantime, you can always check out to see what other books she has available.

Love's Captive by Myra Nour

Volarn Chronicles, Book 1

Serena is a female wrestler.  She’s finished with her match and is in the parking lot waiting for her car to be returned.  And then our adventure begins.

Serena wakes to find she’s been kidnapped.  Nicole is in the room with her.  They are also sporting a new piece of jewelry.  The scenario reminds me of “Star Trek”.  Women from Earth have been kidnapped by flesh merchants and are on their way to Volarn.

At Volarn, they are made ready in a castle.  Overseeing the festivities is King Rhamus.  And then he sees her.  He looks at his sister, Kasha.  Their women warriors are called Getras.  During the women’s first meeting with the King, Nicole shows a little spunk and sticks up for herself.

Rhamus and Serena seem to have an instant connection that heats up the pages.  Their sexual attraction grows stronger the longer they are in each other’s company.  With the heat between the two, I’ll have to be careful that my e-reader doesn’t burn out.

I have to give Myra kudos for coming up with a new world and the words that are not part of our language.  It must be difficult to keep it all straight but she doesn’t seem to have that problem.  As I continue to read, I have pictures in my mind of what Rhamus and Serena look like.  I can picture Rhamus as Ares and Serena as Xena, except with red hair, from the “Xena” series.  Serena acts like a warrior princess trying to protect her women.  She’ll do anything to make sure that they’re happy.

We see that as Rhamus and Serena get to know each other, they are also teaching each other about their respective cultures.  They’re also learning that there is give and take on both sides.  We also get a good lesson that even though we may be different, including cultures, we should all try to get along.  As a society we know that kidnapping is wrong, but you have to understand the pressure that Rhamus is under.  We also see how things can look differently when they are taken away from us.

Myra gives us a world that sounds exotic with strange animals and interesting flora.  She also shows how barbaric the same world can be.  If we were thrust into that same world, would we be able to survive?  Would we be able to acclimate to our surroundings?

As I get to the end of this book, I’m left wanting to know more about Volarn.  Is there a story for Kasha?  You will not be disappointed.   Kasha’s story, “Heart of the Dragon”, will be coming out in June.  Now I need to know if there will be a book three.  Will Jarvic find his love?  We get hints at the end of Rhamus’ story.
