Leighton Hale was my first love and the woman I wanted to spend my life with, but one day she was just gone. Vanished without a trace. Even my extensive contacts as part of the team at Jameson left me empty-handed in my search for answers. My single remorse is never being able to find out what happened to her, because no matter how difficult the truth may be, it can’t be as bad as never knowing at all.

My Thoughts:
August Greenfield is enjoying all that life has to offer. Leighton Glendale hates her life right now. This story has tension and suspense but it also has heart. The author always does a great job at blending what is imaginary with what may seem plausible.
Our author has created at least one character that people may be able to relate to. And personally, there are some things that I can. You may even know someone that may be a close fit. At the very least it will pull at the heartstrings. This could be the moment you realize that this story is going to be a page-turner. Part of that may also be that you will have no trouble feeling the emotions that August and Leighton are feeling. This is just one way that the author humanizes her characters.
I always love the amount of heat our author can create with just her words. She knows just the right combination that's needed in order for those scenes to play out in my head. This time, she added someone that may be quiet but he steals his scenes anyway. Maybe it was because of my recent change of situation but it started to become hard not to have a tear appear in the corner of my eye. She doesn't let me get in too deep though because she knows what I need to lift me up and concentrate on the heat between August and Leighton. She also gave me suspense to keep my mind occupied. I was left feeling that their story isn't over yet and I didn't mind it one bit. That just means that I will have to keep following the series in order to see if they will have a chance to get their happily ever after.
