Kennedy Cross had her heart broken early in life. It wasn't someone or something who betrayed her—it was her own body. My Thoughts:
Jackson Steele gets the shock of his life. And that surprise will steal the scene as
well as your heart. Keeping tissue handy
is strongly suggested. It was
interesting to see how accepting Ryker is of the changes his life has taken.
Kennedy Cross has gone through the date from hell. But it’s that date and the following
circumstances that lead her to Jackson.
The author has a great way of lightening a mood just by getting you to
laugh. But she also knows how to get the
reader’s emotions involved where a tissue may be required. Our main characters both have issues but
those issues don’t stop either of them from getting involved in a
relationship. If you are going through
what either of these two characters are, this story may give you hope that
there’s someone out there for you.
You’ll see how young Kennedy is by the way she acts around
Jackson. She’s a young woman with not
much experience in the men department.
Jackson is the polar opposite of Kennedy. He knows who he is as a man and he’s
definitely an alpha. If you ever look up
the definition of Dominant, you’ll find Jackson’s name there. But that’s what makes him a good match for
her.
The minute I met Ryker I was hooked. I loved Kennedy and Jackson’s story but Ryker
is just so cute and vulnerable that I wanted to know that by the end of the
book he was going to be alright. The
only disappointment I had was that in my copy of the book the Playlist was at
the end. But the good news is that I can
go back at any time and read the book again and have the Playlist playing in
the background. The beginning may seem a
little confusing if you haven’t read any of the other books in the Rock Falls Series. But after that, you will be fine because it
could be considered a stand-alone. If
you find you want to know more about Jackson’s friends may be your incentive to
go back and read the first four books.
The only thing I can’t tell you is when the next book will be coming
out.
I’d totally become a yes girl where hot guy, dad to mini hot guy, Jackson Steele was concerned. So that brings me to now, turning off my ignition and willing my body to move from the safety of my driver’s seat and up to his front door.
It’s okay though. I’ve come prepared. I’d written a list of things not to do when I arrived at the house on a yellow Post-it note.
1. Don’t hyperventilate
2. Don’t sweat
3. Don’t touch him
4. Don’t say the word “penis” or any of
its synonyms or any parts of the male anatomy in general
its synonyms or any parts of the male anatomy in general
5. Don’t drool
Putting force behind the fist I’d raised to knock on the door I immediately begin to fall forward as the offending panel of wood swings inward and I face plant directly into a hard male chest. Rats! There goes rule number three and quickly too.
Mmm. But he sure smells nice.
“Easy, babe,” his voice is a deep manly chuckle, large hands settling on my waist.
I feel that “babe,” that chuckle and that contact in all the right places, even a tingle or two in some wrong ones if I’m being honest.
Considering I’m relatively close to the brink of insanity this morning, it isn’t all that surprising that in that second, instead of pulling away, I take the opportunity to tilt my head back and look at him, really look at him, for the second time since we’d met.
Big mistake.
Should have added a sixth rule. Don’t look at him either.
