My Thoughts:

I had a great time listening to this book from beginning to end. Our narrators,, Ms. Mallon and Mr. Hamilton, were a great choice in having me picture what Kate Smith and Miles Hudson may act and look like. Listening to their story made me feel more a part of what was going on. I think that I actually laughed more listening to their story than when I read it. When reading the book myself, I can't do justice to the characters but having the right narrators they do a better job with the snarky attitude.

There were a couple of favorite scenes. One was when Miles was talking to his sister while multitasking. My other scene was when Kate was with her friends Lynsey and Dean. They were coming back from an errand when things started to happen. Those two scenes also had me hoping for more comedic moments at the Tire Depot. Ms. Daws has me wanting to find my own TD. We have plenty similar establishments around but it's the comfort care center that's going to be harder to find. Ms. Daws also does a great job in getting me let go of the stress of the day and just enjoy a great book. Getting a laugh out of it is just icing on the cake. I just may look at the smell of tires differently from now on. I can't wait to listen to this book again.

My Thoughts:

If you could sum up Enthrall Climax in three words, what would they be?

Steamy, Hot, and Very Erotic - had to stick in one more word. If it weren't cold outside I'd need a fan.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't have just one. It would have to be both Mia and Cameron. You can't have one without the other. Mia is just what Cameron needs even though he doesn't want to admit it. She has a confidence that builds over the series. Cameron thinks he can orchestrate things but this shows that's not true.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't say that I liked one scene above another. Each scene is needed to make this story flow. Our narrators are also needed because they help with that flow. There's a saying about saving the best for last. And with using both Ms. Erickson and Mr. York, the author has done that here. Ms. Erickson's voice was perfect for Mia and Mr. York was perfect as Cameron.

Any additional comments?

If you have not read or listened to any of the other Entrall Sessions books, this is not the place to start. It would be like cheating by reading the ending to see how things turn out. This was a case of where I read the book first. I loved the book but having Ms. Erickson and Mr. York read to me just made my day. This is one case that I wouldn't mind owning both the book and the audio version.

I get both fixes by having the book when i need that hot and steamy read and then the audio version when I would rather listen as I get some work done or if I've had a tough day. There are a lot of people that are York fans and this book will not disappoint. But after hearing Ms. Erickson, I know Mia is speaking to me.

I have several of Ms. Fewings books in audio and this book just enhances my collection. I have a few in my wish list so I have some catching up to do but in the meantime having the book version will help to fill in the gaps until the audio version hits my library. Then I can picture myself having an Enthrall Sessions marathon. So to end this review all I can say is Thank You! And I can't wait to see was Ms. Fewings has in store for me next.

Q&A with Narrator Aundrea Mitchell

When did you know you wanted to be an audiobook narrator?
I was listening to more and more audiobooks and I just kept getting the urge to do it.
How did you wind up narrating audiobooks? Was it always your goal or was it something you stumbled into by chance?
I just researched until I found ACX, and on their website it talked about what you needed, how to do it and I just went for it.
Did you find it difficult to “break into” audiobook narration? What skill/tool helped you the most when getting started?
No, it was not difficult to break in but to stay in is a totally different story.
A lot of narrators seem to have a background in theatre. Is that something you think is essential to a successful narration career?
I don’t know if it’s essential, I have a very limited background from when I was in school. I love theater. However now I do find training very important. Getting an instructor for the type of narration you want to perform, attend seminars and classes in both performance and audio technology – you should really know how to use the equipment you are utilizing and some ‘employers’ will only accept your work if you are using certain technology.
What type of training have you undergone?
I am seeing a coach for non-fiction (Sean Pratt-@SPPresents) and another for fiction (Andi Arndt - @andi_arndt). Between the two a variety of topics in narration and the business of narration are covered. I see improvement every time I have a session, which is really encouraging, I am lucky that although I may not have years of professional acting or collegiate acting training I am able to utilize my coaches to help me improve and to learn more about what it is that I do.
How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for narrating?
For me it is a combination of things. Because of the performance aspect, if I am not feeing it, I try not to push through. I will walk away and do some of the many other things I am responsible for in real life. My hours are really flexible because I work out of a home studio, so sometimes it is just as simple as hanging out with the family. Other times, I find that listening to others narrate in the genre’s I work in really helps. Especially when they are good they will motivate me to want to get back in the booth.
Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
Yes I am constantly listening! I love audiobooks! For me, I find myself listening while I am doing housework or playing the driver to the kids.
What are your favorite and least favorite parts of narrating an audiobook?
My favorite is recording, getting to immerse myself into another world. I also love the read through of the book; it really gets me excited and helps me to plan out where I am going to go. I guess editing is my least favorite part, but only in comparison to the other parts, I love to do it, just not as much as performing or reading.
What about this title compelled you to audition as narrator?
It is exactly the story I would read as a consumer, and if it has my attention in that way then I want to audition because I know I will have fun with it while recording.
How closely do you prefer to work with authors?
I love having input from the authors, although every relationship is not the same. I do prefer it when even if they are not the ones who hire me, they have made the decision to have me be the voice of their book.
