Excerpt:

She waited a minute before finally pursuing the figure. As she stepped around the stable, a hand covered her mouth and pulled her against a hard chest. She used the move she made against Javier just a few days earlier, jabbing her right elbow into the man’s gut. He grunted, but no relaxing of muscles occurred. Great.

“Shh, lass. It’s only me.”

She stilled. She’d know Torr’s voice anywhere. Did he realize what had happened? She bit his hand.

“Ach.” His hold loosened a fraction.

She turned her head and whispered. “I think someone has betrayed you.”

He leaned his head down and whispered in her ear, his breath sending shivers over her skin. “I know.”

He knew? Of course! That’s why he was here. The man was always one step ahead of her. No wonder he was laird.

“Why do I always find ye about at night?”

She glanced up at his face, so near to her own, before she quickly looked away. “I don’t sleep well at night when not at home. I haven’t adjusted to Gealach yet.”

He stared hard at her as if trying to decide if she lied. “The question is, lass, what is yer relationship with the traitor?”

“What?” An uneasy shiver raced up her spine as he held her in a tight grip. “Let me go.”

“Not until ye tell me what ye were doing with Graham.”

What she was — he had to be kidding. “I wasn’t doing anything with him. I saw him sneaking about and confronted him.”

Torr spun her around so fast, the world took a moment to right itself. Once again his hands held her shoulders tightly. “What were ye thinking? A traitor who is caught is dangerous!”

The moon’s light clearly illuminated his face, and she swallowed her angry retort. Concern shone in his eyes beneath his furrowed brow. Why did he have to be such a good guy? She lowered her gaze to project meekness. “I didn’t know he was a traitor until after he became angry.”

Torr lifted her chin with his finger. His amused smirk gentled his face. “Ye made him angry? Then it is not only me ye frustrate?”

She shook her head, her throat dry. His gaze rested on her lips, which brought to mind his last kiss.

His grin faded as his thumb stroked her lower lip.

She took a deep breath in a vain attempt to still the fluttering in her stomach. It didn’t work. It only made her more aware of the scent of the man holding her spellbound. Wool, lye, and ale filled her nostrils as his head lowered.

Her lips parted in anticipation, and his tongue entered her mouth, tasting her with confidence. It was not the gentleness of their first kiss nor the demand of the second. He simply took and coaxed her to do the same, an invitation she couldn’t ignore.

When present day headless horseman Braeden Van Brunt meets the original Katrina Van Tassel, he cannot resist her pull on his heart, but her own heart may still be with his look-alike ancestor. How can he love a woman living in a different time period and put the past to rest, especially when the dead don’t rest in Sleepy Hollow?

Wednesday, September 14 from 5:30pm - 10:30pm

Recluse Braeden Van Brunt is not happy to be the Headless Horseman…until he meets Katrina Van Tassel, owner of the Sleepy Hollow Inn, whose allure bewitches him from the front desk into the bedroom. When he discovers Kat and the village of Sleepy Hollow are cursed to exist only in the present day for one weekend a year, he realizes the sacrifice he must make if he wants to keep her.

Katrina Van Tassel lives between slivers of time. She thought she was through grieving her betrothed’s death, but her dreams flare to life when his mirror-image arrives requesting a room. Drawn to Braeden, she is taken to greater heights of intimacy than she ever imagined, but she can’t be sure if her heart is with him or with the love from her past.

Knowing he must conquer both time and ghosts to keep the only woman he’s ever loved, Braeden must put the past to rest. But the dead won’t rest in Sleepy Hollow.

For such a tough lady, she could be so sexy when caught off guard. “Would you unbraid your hair for me, Kat?”
“My hair?”
He smirked. “Yes, your hair. You know. Those long, blonde strands you keep tied at the back of your head.”
“Why?”
Had no one made love to this woman? Had no one ever shown her how beautiful she was? “Do you have a hairbrush?”
“Of course.” All bustle again, she moved to her chest and pulled out an old hairbrush. “Do you need it?” She glanced at his head.
He probably did, but that wasn’t what he wanted it for. “In a minute.”
He set down the lantern, picked up a straight-back chair that sat against the wall and placed it facing the armoire. Opening the floor-to-ceiling piece of furniture, he centered the chair across from the large oval Victorian mirror. “Sit.”
Puzzled, she started to obey.
“No, wait.”
She froze in place.
“Take your nightgown off.”
“My what?”
“That long shirt you’re wearing.”
“You mean my shift?”
He nodded.
“But I don’t have anything on underneath.”
He let his smile grow. “Exactly.”
The blush that rose to her cheeks transformed her from beautiful to a glowing goddess. “I can’t do that.”
He stepped next to her and took the brush from her hand. “Yes, you can.” Without giving her a chance to think, he grasped the edges and lifted the garment over her head. She raised her arms and allowed him to have his way.
She was all curves, and seeing them for the first time all at once was breathtaking. He moved the nightstand closer to the chair so the lantern would illuminate her clearly. Then he took her hand and guided her to sit, forcing himself not to touch all the places he craved. This was about her.
Once she was seated, he moved the other lantern from the floor and set it on her bureau. When he turned back to look at her, she was bathed in a yellow glow.
Her gaze met his and the uncertainty he witnessed made him want to crush whoever had made her think she might be anything less than gorgeous. He forced his body to relax. She could simply be shy.
Best way to help that was to distract her. Without hesitation, he unfolded the towel from his hips and set it on the floor to the side of her.
“Braeden.” The word was a whisper.

Pyrotechnics expert, Serena Upton, wonders if she’s been transported into one of the science fiction movies she works on. It certainly seems so when she’s rescued by three hot, naked men from another planet. She’s whisked away to Loraleaf, their home in the jungle of Eden, with the expectation that she will become their beloved. As they cater to her in every way, she begins to understand what it means to be their chosen one.

Jahl and Khaos risked everything, even the brother of their heart, to bring Serena home, but grief and self-doubt, etched in stone by their own families, seems insurmountable. Their only hope is that she can fill the void in their lives. They succeed in sweeping her up in their erotic passion, but they are unable to capture her heart.

Though Serena cares for Jahl and Khaos, she’s convinced she’s not the answer to their damaged souls. It’s better that she return to her family on Earth before she cares too much. That is, if she doesn't already.

Khaos dropped Serena’s hand, the emotions roiling through him difficult to contain. No one ever asked about his family. He moved away from her, unseeing. The pain he kept buried daily rose up and closed his throat. Family was not a comfort to him but a source of anguish. The image of his mother’s gaze as she looked at him with disgust and fear flashed through his mind and he balled his fists.

Desperately, he forced himself to swallow. Don’t let her see your shame.

“Khaos?” The touch of her hand on his shoulder sent a shudder through him. She was happiness and love. Everything he craved to give her. He couldn't let her see he wasn't worth hers in return.

He should turn around. Smile at her. Not yet. She’ll see it in your eyes. He forced his fingers to relax and crossed his hand over his chest to grasp hers. Soft. Delicate. Some of his stiffness eased. “I didn't know you were close to your family. Do you miss them?”

Her other hand rested on his arm. “Sometimes. Well, mostly when I’m afraid or unsure. They’re like a comfy blanket. You know, a safe place.”

He closed his eyes as he envisioned what that might be like. Serena wrapping him in her arms was the image he envisioned. His lips twitched and he turned toward her. “I hope you consider being with us a safe place too.”

“I do now. At first I wasn't so sure. I mean, you came out of nowhere. But you saved me and you've welcomed me into your home. I’m very grateful.”

He stared into her round amber eyes, so large for her delicate face and so honest. He wanted more than her appreciation. He touched her cheek hesitantly, watching for any sign of withdrawal.

She turned her face into his palm and his heart skidded in response. To love her, touch her everywhere, would be paradise. He wanted her to look at him with need.

She broke away. “I think we should get to work, don’t you? We have a few items on our to-do list and Jahl, Toni and Sandale could arrive at any moment. We don’t want to be caught with our pants down.”

“What?”

She looked at him, her gaze wandering down the length of his body, causing a rush of blood to flow to his groin. Her gaze stopped on his stiffening cock.

She swiftly raised her eyes to his face. “Never mind. Let’s just try to focus on what we need to do.”

He allowed himself a crooked smile. That he distracted her sent a warmth around his heart. Maybe Sandale was right. Maybe he could be worthy of her.
