As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a chance at humanity.

Tasty Book Tours Presents: The Importance Of Being Scandalous; #VirtualTour, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #Giveaway

He’ll go along with her scheme, even if it means
ruining them both.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING SCANDALOUS
Tale of Two Sisters #1
Kimberly Bell
Releasing July 25, 2017
Entangled Select

A horse race in trousers on Rotten Row.  Visiting a gaming hall in a dress that would make her mother faint. Sneaking an invitation to a masquerade ball attended by only the wickedest, most debauched members of society…
None of these things are scaring off bookish but strong-willed Amelia Bishop’s stuffy, egotistical fiancĂ©.

The only thing left is to entice childhood friend Nicholas Wakefield into a truly engagement-ending scandal. The Wakefields are the height of propriety, and Nicholas’s parents have made it clear a wife from the neighboring Bishop family would be unacceptable…

But Nicholas would give up his family and his fortune if Amelia would ever see him as more than just a childhood friend.  He’ll go along with her scheme, even if it means ruining them both, because
he’s got a plan that will change her mind about him being merely the boy next door.

Nicholas tried to stay close to Amelia when they insinuated themselves into the crowd around Lady Chisholm, but Amelia kept insisting they should stand apart. He strongly suspected she was trying to insulate him from the scandal she was about to cause. He had no one but himself to blame for her thinking that way. Their whole lives, he’d let his family name hold too much sway. Somehow, he would have to convince her things were different now.
“I rather like the new styles from the continent,” some young miss made the mistake of saying.
“Nonsense,” Lady Chisholm barked. “They stray much too far from tradition.”
From the other side of the group, Amelia spoke up. “I don’t think they stray nearly far enough.”
“Excuse me?” Lady Chisholm gasped.
“I said I don’t think they stray nearly far enough.”
“I heard you, Lady Amelia. I only hoped I was mistaken.”
Amelia frowned. Nicholas thought she might give up, but then her shoulders straightened and she lifted her chin. “Are you mistaken often?”
“Rarely.” Montrose’s aunt peered at Amelia. “And what do you imagine might be appropriate attire for a young lady?”
“Trousers,” Amelia announced.
A murmur went up through the crowd. It was everything Nicholas could do to hold in a laugh. All the more so because he knew Amelia was being honest. In this regard, he was on Lady Chisholm’s side. He’d seen Amelia in trousers a number of times and he knew how distracting it was. Were it to become a popular trend in women’s fashion, the entire country would devolve into anarchy inside a week.

Kimberly Bell writes historical romance from her cabin in South Lake Tahoe or the beaches of
Southern California (it’s a super tough life).

She's a pretty hardcore introvert that loves dogs, cheeseburgers, and occasional day drinking. She also spends way too much time on twitter because she thinks she's super hilarious and she’s trying to get that rumor to catch on.

Author's Pal Presents: Lost In Deception by Anita DeVito; #BlogTour, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #Live, #Review, #Giveaway

Rating:  4.5 Stars

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from Author’s Pal and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

About the Book:

Private investigator Esmeralda “Peach” Morales watches in horror as the crane her uncle is operating topples into Lake Erie. He disappears and she’s convinced he’ll be the scapegoat. She’ll do anything to prove he’s innocent. Seducing the lead investigator is just part of her strategy, at least that’s what she tells herself.
Thomas Riley is at Elderberry Farm when he learns of a deadly crane accident in Cleveland. The forensic investigator suspects sabotage and amid the rubble and mangled metal he uncovers a web of lies and deception. At the center of it all is a beautiful brunette who always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Both fiercely independent, they must learn to work together––inside and outside the bedroom––to unravel the mystery and clear her uncle’s name.

My Thoughts:

Esmeralda “Peach” Morales sees something she doesn’t ever expect to see.  She shows to what lengths some people will go to for family – do not try this at home.  But the story is about the love of family and that can be tried at home.  The scene is one that will grab the reader’s attention.  Tom Riley is a man that likes to solve puzzles.

We get to find out about who Tom is as a man and what shaped him into what he is now.  But I found that I was more curious about Peach and what seems to make her tick.  She was very good at holding her own and I liked the fact that she also served her country.  In Tom’s favor, I will say that when he was in the same space as Peach, you could feel the heat and his interest.

This was a story that is part of a series but could be considered a standalone.  I can’t say that you won’t feel lost by not reading the previous book because I already did.  But I could use the excuse that I will have to go back and read it again and then make up for lost time and make sure to check out book one.  I loved the interactions between our two main characters and the suspense that the author scatters throughout the story.  And if not for this series I might not have discovered a new author that I plan to keep on my radar.

Excerpt:

They looked at each other for a second, which stretched into ten. Then it became awkward, neither saying anything. He should leave; he knew he should. “Guess I’ll find out.” He stepped into the hallway, fighting the urge to get his hands on the purple performance wear covering his favorite parts of her body. “I’m next door. If you need anything.”

Peach patted the towel down her torso. “So you said.”

“You know, this doesn’t have to be weird between us because we are here in my house.”

“It is weird to you? Having me here?”

“No. No, it isn’t. I want you here.” He stepped close to her, fingers itching to play in her wealth of curls. “I just don’t want you to feel—I don’t know—obligated or anything because you are here.”

She raised an eyebrow. “Obligated?”

Not what he was going for. He ran both hands through his hair and retreated. “I mean, we got together a few times, and sure, it was spectacular, but that doesn’t mean that we have to keep getting together if, you know, you aren’t good with it.”

She smiled as he babbled.

“So…like I said…if you need anything. Well, you know where I am.” He stepped back into the hallway. “Good night.”

He went back to his room and closed the door. Somehow, in five minutes and fifteen feet he went from out of sorts to outright frustrated.

Anita’s rapid paced storytelling style pulls readers into a parallel universe where mystery, mayhem, murder are the order of the day. Her stories are an addictive diversion, trading the heavy, gray world of real life for a fantastically colorful world where bad is good, and cool is smoking hot.

Her love of mysteries and puzzle solving came from her Grandpa John, who introduced Anita to her first detective hero – Nero Wolfe. Food was as central a character in Anita’s life as it was in Nero’s, where Sunday dinner at Nonna’s table was a command performance.

IndieSage PR Presents: Drakon's Plunder by N.J. Walters; #BlogTour, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #Giveaway

Drakon’s Plunder
by N.J. Walters
Blood of the Drakon #3
Publication Date: July 3, 2017
Genres: Adult, Entangled: Select Otherworld, Paranormal, Romance
#Live  #ParanormalRomance #EntangledOtherworld #NewRelease

SYNOPSIS:

Life is not going well for archaeologist Sam Bellamy. She’s stuck in the middle of the ocean on a salvage boat with people who want her dead. It wasn’t her gift for being able to sense objects of power that got her here, rather her need to make a secret society called the Knights of the Dragon pay for killing her mentor. Sam doesn’t believe in dragons, but the Knights do, and if she can get one of the sacred artifacts they’re searching for away from them, she’ll consider it payback.
Ezra Easton is content to run his marine salvage company and live alone on his private island. He may be a four-thousand-year-old water drakon, but he’s civilized enough to know just because he pulls an injured woman from the ocean, doesn’t mean he gets to keep her…
When she wakes up, she has a few tall tales to share, and it seems the Knights are after her. But this drakon won’t give up his treasure.

EXCERPT:

“What did this Gervais Rames want?”

She leaned her head on his shoulder. “He told me about the Knights and what they did. I mean, the idea of drinking dragon blood when the creatures don’t even exist is really out there. He told me how they killed people like Brian all the time in their quest for power and eternal life.” She tipped back her head and peered up at him. “I gotta tell you, I almost called the cops right then and there. I mean, there’s no such thing as dragons and eternal life. That’s all fantasy. Right?”

“Right,” Ezra agreed. No need to upset her by informing her she was sitting in the arms of a water drakon who’d lived for thousands of years. And by the way, if she drank his blood on a regular basis, she’d be cured of any disease and live indefinitely. Nope, best to keep his mouth shut. His dragon grumbled inside him but didn’t give him too much grief.

“But the fact remains that these people think it’s real. It’s like the alchemists centuries ago trying to turn base metal into gold. People do kill in the pursuit of arcane and forbidden knowledge. I’ve made it my life’s work to study such things. I know what different cultures have done since the dawn of time, the atrocities they’ve committed in pursuit of their cause.”

Ezra was well aware of the lengths humans would go to in order to try to live forever or appease their gods, whichever ones they happened to be worshipping depending on the time in history.
“So you believe the society is real, but not the creatures they’re searching for?”

“Exactly?”

“So how did this Rames know about them?”

She rubbed her hands up and down her arms. Ezra reached out and snagged her coffee. She gave him a grateful smile and she took a large swallow. “Thanks.”

“Rames?” he reminded her, eager to finish this conversation so she could rest.

“This is where the story takes an even crazier turn.”

He gave her a small smile. “I think I’m past being surprised.”

“It seems that Rames was part of another secret society, only this one works to oppose the Knights of the Dragon. Their mandate is to protect all dragons. They call themselves the Dragon Guard.”

He’d told her he was past being surprised, but he’d lied. She’d managed to totally stun him.
