My Thoughts:

There are certain books that you need to make sure to read the whole series. There are books that you prefer to read and those you prefer to listen to. Then there are times that once you listen to a book, you know that you’re going to have to get the print version.

This is one of the latter. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Santino and Anna who are an interesting couple, even though they weren’t at the beginning of this journey. Having Mr. York and Ms. Swann as my narrators brought both these characters to life. I got to hear the emotion, both good and bad. Ms. Swann made a good Anna and you want to talk about emotion. I felt as if she was speaking directly to me while letting all those emotions out for me to feel. At one point, she even brought tears to my eyes. Mr. York made a great Santino. I had no trouble picturing what he might look like and how seriously he took his job. He also was good about showing how much of a manwh**e Santino could be. And how love can change a man.

Our story was great with these two narrators but this story gets even better with the addition of Ms. Lucas and Mr. Crais. We get to hear from two people that are very close to Anna. The author has got me hooked on this series. It may revolve around the mob but her story is more about the people that need to navigate that world and still stay true to themselves. With this current book, she doesn’t leave her readers hanging but left me wondering what will happen in the next book in the series.
