My Thoughts:
I’m partial to the audiobook version of this series. Besides being able to work and listen to the book, some of my favorite narrators get to read to me. John Hartley reprises his role as Keller. Keller is a man who seems to have brooding down to a science. If you look deeply, you will see he has a heart filled with love for someone he never expected. And Mr. Hartley knows how to turn up the steam with just his voice.
In this second book, Samantha Brentmoor has taken over the role of Lilly. I think she did an excellent job at getting me to see the same Lilly I pictured in book one. Right from the start, I was looking for my happy ending. Where the first book was light, this book was a little darker and less sections to laugh about. Our author is the princess (my ode to Lilly) of romantic comedy, but this current story has a lot where there’s nothing to laugh about – very serious things are afoot.
There came one point where I worried that the story was going to get too dark, especially with the addition of James Joseph as the third narrator. He does a good job at having me picture him as the bad guy of the piece. You’ll be glad once you get over the hump because all the ups and downs will be worth it in the end. I’m already set for my ears to take me to my next happy place.
