My Thoughts:
One thing I found is that even though this may be listed as a standalone, you will find that his brother Kaden’s story has interweaved itself here. So it’s up to you whether or not which story you want to read first. Other Kennedy brothers make an appearance as well but they don’t overtake what’s going on here.
Keven was an interesting character. Our author doesn’t try to romanticize who or what he is. She gives him some real chinks in his invisible armor. I like to see that he wants to make amends for what he did in the past. We get to see how much of a human she made him. Cheryl is what makes this a good drama. It’s her character that creates the suspense. What will she do? How is all of this going to affect her future? I could see this playing out on Lifetime.
In my short introduction I’ve become intrigued by this family. Even though I started the series here, I didn’t feel lost but after seeing some of Keven’s family I’m curious as to what I’ve missed. Especially after reading part of Eva’s story. Here though, I liked how Cheryl was stubborn. After all, we can’t make things too easy on the men in our lives.
The suspense is weaved throughout the story. That’s a good thing since it keeps us wondering what’s going to come around the next corner. I also like that it continues almost to the very end. When it comes to the ending, things aren’t over yet. Make no mistake, we get an ending that will make you smile but our Kennedy Boys aren’t quite done with us yet.
