Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book for review from Enticing Journey Book Promotions and the author. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".
I was also in love.
My desire for her overwhelmed me. Consumed me. Distracted me.
To protect her, I stood motionless as my partner pried her from the security of my arms. I watched as she fought his hold. I even listened when she screamed that she hated me.
For years I’ve been patient, I’ve been smart, and I’ve gone by the book. But now… it’s finally over.
It’s time to get my girl back.
When I show up to reclaim what’s mine, I discover she’s not ready to forgive me quite yet… but that’s okay, because I have no problem reminding her just how good it used to be, even if I have to show her over and over again.
What I do have a problem with is the guy who’s been trying to take my place. Because here’s the thing, I’ve waited too long to have her in my arms again to have anybody stand in my way… and I’m done following the rules.

Jay Jamison wants to connect his past with his present. Olive “Livvie” has a boyfriend that works way
too much. This book may be a second
chance at love but I also found it to be a book about family. On Jay’s side we have Mellie and on Livvie’s
side we have Opal. It’s something that
makes this story so believable. When you
think of Thanksgiving, you think of family.
So what better way to spend some free time before the hectic days
leading toward that holiday than to read this book?
We have a man that seems so honorable. He tries to do the right thing to protect his
love. But he also has a sister that he
cares a lot about but she has some demons she’s trying to deal with. Livvie’s sister Opal gives her quite the
surprise. This is just one more person
for Jay to care for. These are two
people who are so comfortable around the other.
It’s what makes this story a pleasure to read. Don’t get me wrong; I loved the suspense in
the story. Their connection is both
sweet and hot. But I loved the family
connection.
It’s a story that covers both past and present. If it didn’t how would we understand these
characters. What makes them a
couple? What is the threat that our alpha
male wants to protect his ladylove from?
It’s a book that made me slow down and fixate on the book so that I wouldn’t
miss a thing. Even though this is
considered a standalone our author shows, when you get to the end of the book,
that we have characters that appear elsewhere.
So if you want more of these characters make sure to check out her other
books.

Anna began writing when she thought the world would want to hear her sick lyrics through song. Since then, she's realized her childhood dream wasn't so far-fetched, just misguided. Now she writes romance with real emotions and happy endings. If Anna isn't writing or reading, she can be found by a space heater painting her nails and drinking a ridiculous amount of Diet Dr Pepper. She also likes to hang out with her husband and two boys. If it wasn't for them, she wouldn't ever leave the house. Anna was born in Wisconsin but now lives in the Evergreen State.
