#NewReleaseTour: Sugar Rush by Sawyer Bennett; #ComingSoon, #Review

Title: Sugar Rush (Sugar Bowl, Book #2)

Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: August 16, 2016
Rating:

Synopsis:

In the steamy and suspenseful sequel to Sugar Daddy (“A totally gripping take on romance and revenge!”—Lauren Blakely), a heartbreaking rift threatens to unravel a dangerous alliance . . . and a fragile new love.

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She's closing in on the site's heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend's business partner and her lover, by her side. She'd thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn't exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT's trust and pretend that they're still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

Note:  Sugar Rush ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck's story concludes in Sugar Free!

My Thoughts:

Sela Halstead is very upset.  Beckett “Beck” North does something he soon regrets.  His business partner is also back in this second part of the series.  The author does not change his personality – he’s still a jerk and sleaze.  Before the first chapter is finished, you will realize that you need to read this series in order.  You also may not understand how these people got to where they are at the beginning of this book.

In order to know what Sela’s agenda is you need to see what happens to her in Sugar Daddy.  And by the time you get to the end of this book you’re not quite sure if that agenda ever changed.  Beck was a man who was all about business but in this book that seems to have changed a little – Sela must be good for him.

This story’s a good reminder not to jump to conclusions.  We need to listen with our ears and heart, and then process things with our brain.  Our couple shows us how mad we can get when something devastating happens to the ones we love.  This is when we need to take a step back and not go and do something that could ruin lives forever.

This whole series is darker than some of this author’s other books.  So be aware that some of what Sela has to say may be hard to read.  We also have to understand that things like that actually do happen.  It’s also possible that something like this could happen to someone close to you.  Some readers are more sensitive about certain subjects so you may want to think about that before picking up a copy.  Just like with the first book, this could be a good incentive to make a donation of some kind to a woman’s shelter.

This was one of those books that was very hard to put down.  In order to run a couple of errands I had no choice but once I got home I didn’t put it down until the story was done.  Our author was very smart with her ending.  It’s not an HEA or even an HFN but it ends with a cliffhanger.  It was a tough ending to read but that cliffhanger solidified my next move.  I have no choice but to read Sugar Free when it comes out.
