A few moments later there is a Molson beer next to me, picking it up, I bring the bottle to my lips, my eyes never leaving Lea, not for a fucking second. Her gaze doesn’t leave mine either, and regardless of the purpling on her cheek, she’s a fucking beautiful sight to behold.

Shaking my head, I decide to get a drink. Tugging the bottle of vodka out of the freezer, I don’t even bother with a glass. Twisting the cap off, I toss it into the garbage can and bring the bottle to my lips before taking a large pull.

Closing my eyes, I let the liquid burn as it slides down my throat. Inhaling a deep breath, I do it again. And again. I continue to drink until I no longer feel the burn, until I no longer think about the Notorious Devils, any of them. Until Carter is just a blur.

With a snort, I grab my apartment keys and sway out of the room, locking the door behind me.

Trouble.

My Thoughts:

Roxanne Tucker would not be considered “normal”. Houston Bryant has been through a very tough situation. This book could be considered a standalone, which is good for me since I started reading the Cash Bar Series in the middle, and it makes it easier to go back and catch up.

Many years ago I watched a movie title Sybil that I thoroughly enjoyed. Part of that was due to the actress Sally Field bringing the main character to life. That could be what I liked about Roxanne – she’s just as complex. Beyond her issues, Houston was able to find something that he could connect to. He’s also very patient.

Out of all the Cash Bar books that I have read, this shows how creative our author is. I think it’s the most twisted for sure – which is why the title is a perfect fit. It’s a story that I could see playing out in reality. Mental health issues have been playing a part in our news – both local and national. I think that is important but it makes me wonder how Roxanne would feel about it. Our author shows how tough it can be living with something that you have no control over. You will get hints of the MC world that Houston lives in but this story is all about them.

I loved the ride this author took me on. There were ups and downs and even some curves – it was a rollercoaster ride that I didn’t want to end. One thing I liked about Houston is that he’s a support system for his brothers and he’s also a support system for Roxanne. The ending is sweet, will tug at your heart, and I had a sense that maybe things will be ok.

My Thoughts:

Carson Everett doesn’t mind that her life has changed.  Her friend Roxy has her back.  Ace “Keys” has his past hit him between the eyes.  You can see that he’s a dominating character as we get to know him.  I started out thinking that Carson was good for him.  Then a scene came up, I giggled, then I switched sides.

Our author does a great job in creating her secondary characters.  Besides getting a kick out of Roxy, Houston has gotten my attention.  It had me wondering, “what’s up with him?”  She shows her readers that it’s not just the main characters that are important to a story.  Secondary characters, besides the story line and great scenes, is what helps to move things along.  And if you can get a giggle or two out of it is never a bad thing.

This is a book that feeds a lot of needs.  One need is for those that love the MC romance genre.  Then we have the part where there’s action & adventure that may leave you saying “road trip!”  Then for those that like their scenes hot and panty melting our author will feed that need for you.  If it weren’t winter, I’d probably be pulling out my fan or opening the windows.  I think you’ll find that this book was a great addition to a new series by Ms. Faiman and I’m looking forward to seeing where she’s going to take us next.  Especially when I’m still left wondering about Roxy and Houston.
