Xpresso Tours Presents: Wild For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson; #BlogTour, #ComingSoon, #TBR, #PreOrder, #Giveaway

Wild For Me
Tam DeRudder Jackson
Balefire Series, #3
Publication date: November 18th 2021
Genres: Adult, New Adult, Romance

Dakota

Annabelle Stewart, all tight leather skirt and hot lace panties, thundered into my life for one night after a rock show and calmly drove away the next day. She should have been like any other one-night stand I’ve had over the last ten years touring with Balefire. But she wasn’t. At odd moments, I catch myself thinking about her, wondering if I made as big an impression on her as she did on me.

Then I walk into the rehearsal for our drummer’s wedding, and who’s standing with the bride? The hottie who keeps me awake with thoughts of our one night together. Beautiful, smart, and sassy as hell, Annabelle sets me on fire with her kisses and leaves me hanging. But I’ve got plans for her.

Annabelle

I never expected to see him again. Two years after hooking up with Dakota Perri after a Balefire concert, I’d convinced myself that night was a fantasy. But the way he looks at me during Jack and Clio’s wedding, like he remembers every second of our one-night stand, lights me up. Too bad I blew it.

Then I score a management internship with the band, an opportunity guaranteed to land me a scholarship with a top graduate program—if I don’t earn a reputation for sleeping my way to success. Which is a problem. I see Dakota every day. Every time we’re together, the sparks fly faster and hotter. If I want to achieve my goals, I have to resist him. But how can I resist a man as panty-meltingly hot as Dakota Perri when he says he’s wild for me?

Excerpt:

Since the wedding party took the dance floor in the middle of the song, I didn’t have to endure MandMs’s stiff body and jerky dance moves for long. When the song ended, though, I couldn’t resist a parting shot. I snapped my teeth near her ear, and she nearly jumped out of her dress. “Thanks for the dance. The Big Bad Wolf will leave you alone now,” I whispered.

Without waiting for her response, I turned on my heel and headed for my prize. After being a good boy and putting up with the goofy bridesmaid, I deserved some alone time with Annabelle.

During a quiet moment at the rehearsal last night, I’d casually asked Clio about her. The fact that she’d remained unattached since I met her gratified me. I didn’t want to have to take out some schmo who thought he stood a chance with her. Plus, her attending the wedding dateless gave me the green light for enjoying another night—or two—with her. Knowing she’d be here was one of the reasons I came stag. Of course, attending any function with a date would have meant giving up opportunities, and that never figured into my MO.

By the time I finished teasing MandMs, Annabelle had nearly made it off the dance floor. Snagging her hand, I tugged her back to me.

“Annababy, I think it’s my turn to dance with you.”

I couldn’t help but smirk at her wide-eyed stare in response to the endearment I’d made up on our one night together. “Hey, you told me last night if I wanted to dance with you, all I had to do was ask.”

Though the band kicked into something up-tempo, I pulled Annabelle close, wrapping my arms around her, probably holding her way too close for a polite dance at the start of the evening. Not that I gave a shit. I’d been waiting a long time for this moment.

She held herself stiffly, her hands barely resting on my biceps. I needed her to relax, be herself with me.

“I heard you girls had a good time last night.”

“We did, thanks.”

“You give Clio some special stuff to encourage Jack on their honeymoon?” I couldn’t rein in the wicked chuckle that escaped me.

Annabelle shivered deliciously against me, and I pulled her body flush with mine as I swayed us to the music.

“Definitely,” she replied with a knowing smile. “MandMs surprised the heck out of us with the bag of tricks she gave Clio.”

“MandMs?” I pulled back enough to catch her eye. “From my experience with that one, I’d think she gave Clio a blanket masquerading as sleepwear.” I couldn’t help the accompanying eye roll. Honestly, that woman had tried my patience almost to my last nerve.

Annabelle laughed. I couldn’t tell if she laughed at me or at her friend, but I didn’t care. Her laughter made me think of champagne bubbles, all light and round. When she laughed, she relaxed, her full breasts pillowing perfectly against my chest. It was all I could do to keep my hands wrapped around her waist rather than let them explore further south over her pretty round ass.

Her expression turned positively naughty as she described MandMs’s gift to Clio. My eyes widened as she shared the details of flavored body paint and fur-lined handcuffs.

“Get out! Are we talking about the same person here? The one who needed two glasses of liquid courage to dance half a dance with me a few minutes ago?”

“She thinks you’re scary.” Annabelle smirked.

“I know.” I sighed dramatically. “She told me when she finally started speaking to me.” I leaned in close, rubbing my jaw lightly against the side of Annabelle’s face. “You don’t think I’m scary though,” I purred into her ear.

Again with the full-body shiver. I have to admit, I liked the way the woman couldn’t help but respond to me.

She sighed and pulled away, leveling a look at me. “I know you’re scary. When it comes to women, you’re a pirate, stealing all our common sense. I’ve seen your show live, remember? Every possible style of women’s lingerie literally carpeted that stage and the floor in front of it at Red Rocks.”

“Except for your sexy black lace thong.” I quirked a brow. “That hung off my guitar for most of the show.”

She gasped. “You remember what I threw onto the stage that night?”

“There were three hotties in the front row whose attention I wanted later. One of them turned out to be Clio, who obviously was spoken for. The other one tossed up a red lace bra, and I had a notion to follow up on her invitation.” She shot me a look, and I chuckled. “You tossed up those incredibly sexy panties. But I gotta say, Annabelle, you were definitely the prize.”

She blinked at me.

“Usually, I’m not a big fan of weddings, but I was looking forward to this one when I found out you’d be attending it.”

(Balefire Series, #2)

Rating:  4 Stars

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book for review from Xpresso Tours and the author. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Blu

My entire life is my music—and all the trappings that come with it. Sex, booze, and rock ’n’ roll is all I ever wanted. Touring the world as the lead singer of Balefire, I have it all. Until on hiatus, I meet the girl next door.

Ashleigh Baker is nothing like the groupies and celebrities who usually have all my attention. In her cute floppy hat with her knees stained with dirt, she spends her days creating a flowering show piece from her rented yard. She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met, and she acts like she doesn’t want a damn thing to do with me. But from the moment I laid eyes on her, she’s all I can think about.

Ashleigh

Growing up the only child of an Air Force Colonel, all I wanted was to stay in one place for more than a minute. When I score a pretty little house with a long-term lease, I just want to grow my flowers and my freelancing gig as a music reviewer. Then a loud Harley wakes me from a sound sleep and I discover my neighbor is Blu Connolly. Yeah, that Blu Connolly, lead singer for my favorite band Balefire. With his killer good looks and panty-melting voice, he’s a walking temptation to sin. Though I do my best to avoid him, it seems Blu has other ideas. He’s on a mission to wear me down, let him in, but what happens when he stops wanting to sing for me?

Goodreads / Amazon

My Thoughts:

Blu enjoys the good times to be had but is he a bad boy at heart.  Ashleigh has an interesting neighbor but is his mother someone you want to get to know better.  Listening to music, playlist is included, just might be a good thing.  Even though this book is part of a series, this book can stand on its own.

This is a story that shows what can happen when you try to have a relationship with someone famous.  I did enjoy that for Ashleigh there wasn’t an instant connection.  She’s a woman who is trying to be cautious – especially when it involves the heart.  That is an incentive to turn the page.  The other incentive is seeing what Blu may do next.  He has a big personality but the author does a good job in not letting him overtake the story.  She also gives us just enough of the other members of Blu’s band without making the story all about the music business.

Some scenes give you just enough and if you wish you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks.  Our author has created an interesting group of men that even if this may be your first book of the series, you’ll want to see what the other members of the band have in store. Especially after you read the ending.  This author is new for me and I was surprised to see how many books she has out.  While waiting for her next book, I’ll have to go back and check out Play For Me.  Then at some point, I’ll have to look into what else she has written.

Jack

When I made my deal with the devil, I thought I was on my way to my rock ’n’ roll dream. Too bad I didn’t read the fine print. Having it all meant giving up the only girl I knew I’d ever love. Five years later, I’m drumming in the hottest rock band in the country, but I live like a monk.

Fate hands me an opportunity to reconnect with my perfect girl, giving me one glorious night with Clio Barnes. Our chemistry is off the charts. Too bad fate plays by her own rules. When Clio hears my bandmate’s idea of a joke, she believes I’ve used her, dissolved our love into a one-night stand, and she blows out of my life. When our tour ends, I’m determined to find her again, no matter how well she hides from me.

Clio

All my life, I’ve been invisible. For a brief moment five years ago, Jack Whitehorse saw me. And he made me feel like the center of his universe. But that was an illusion. Music was Jack’s only love. A chance encounter after a Balefire concert allows us to reconnect, but once again, I’m playing second fiddle to his rock ’n’ roll muse.

When the pregnancy test comes back positive, I decide to keep our baby secret. I can’t force Jack to play for me—I wouldn’t want to. Then he shows up unexpectedly one day, knocking on my door and demanding to be let in. He leaves me no choice but to tell him about the baby. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one with a secret. But the one he’s been keeping might end us for good.

EXCERPT:

Jack

Clio stood to the side of the dance floor, sipping a flute of champagne and looking so stunning she nearly broke my heart—again.

I wanted to study her, take all of her in for a few minutes before I broke the spell and actually talked to her. What do you say to the only person who ever really mattered after you dumped her with no explanation whatsoever? After the way she dropped on her ass when I caught her attention at the concert, I had to wonder how she was going to react to talking to me.

Then again, maybe she went down because of the booze she’d been drinking. I barely took my eyes off her from the moment I spotted her in the front row at the show, so I saw how she finished her flask then finished off her friend’s. Now she had a half-full glass of champagne in her hand, and I couldn’t tell if she was swaying to the music or trying to remain upright.

Jesus, tipsy or not, her beauty stunned me. That dress she had on wore me out. All that delicate lace hinted at her pretty curves and showed off her legs, which her sexy sandals emphasized. I couldn’t guess the length of her hair since she was wearing it up, but I was glad she apparently hadn’t cut it. The style exposed the neck I’d loved touching and kissing, making her shiver and snuggle closer to me for more. As the memories washed over me, I smiled before I heard Dakota talking from somewhere behind me.

“Oh, yeah, I’d like to tap that,” he said, and I wondered which girl would be the starter for his evening. Then he boiled my blood. “That redhead in the blue lace dress is one seriously sexy woman.”

“I think she’s spoken for, dude. You’re going to have to look somewhere else,” Tron said as he materialized next to me.

“Just ’cause there’s a goalie doesn’t mean you can’t score,” Dakota said with a laugh.

I flexed my fists as I considered clocking him when Tron put a restraining hand on my arm. Clenching my jaw, I didn’t turn my head to look at him, but I uncoiled slightly. Of the three other guys in the band, I was closest to Tron. He was steady and levelheaded, and he didn’t mind at all that I didn’t drink much and never spent private time with the army of groupies who followed Balefire like it was their job.

“She belongs to the monk, Dakota. That’s one goalie you don’t want to mess with.”

“The monk has a girl? How did I not know this?” Dakota turned a wide-eyed stare on me.

“With any luck, I’ll have that girl, so back off,” I growled.

“You haven’t made a move yet? That makes her fair game.” Dakota took a step in Clio’s direction.

“I invited her to this party, so no, she’s not fair game. If you don’t want me to mess up your pretty face, back the fuck off,” I gritted out, staring him down.

Dakota raised his hands in surrender. “Whoa, man. No need to get your shorts in a knot over a woman. The room is full of ’em.” His eyes wandered the room and all the ladies on offer. “Why, there’s another sweet little number walking over to talk to Red. The brunette off-limits too?”

“Knock yourself out. I’ll even introduce you,” I said. Maybe with the buffer of other people, I could survive this initial reconnection with Clio.

Then again, maybe it was a much bigger deal to me than it would be to her. For all I knew, Harrison Barnes had fed her a truckload of shit about me, and now she couldn’t give a flying fuck if I talked to her or not.

“You’ve been stirred up about seeing her again since you found her friend and set up this opportunity, dude. Probably better do something about it now that you have the chance,” Tron said quietly into my ear.

I nodded and turned to Dakota. “Let’s go talk to some nice girls for a change.”

“Seriously? What fun will that be?”

The stricken look on Dakota’s face cracked me up, and I felt lighter than I had all night. “God, you’re such a fuck boy. If Clio’s friend is too nice for you, I’m sure you can find the girl who belongs with the red bra you kept from the show.”

“You saw that, did you?” A grin broke over his face.

“Bet her phone number is written in great big digits over the inside of the cups.”

“Nah, they’re all lace.”

I raised a brow and waited for the punch line.

“It’s written along the straps. Since all the VIPs in the front row got invited to this little soiree of ours, I know she’s here somewhere. But first, the angel in the naughty black leather dress.”

I burst out laughing at the melodramatic villain way he rubbed his hands together, and we were all right again.

Glancing back to where Clio and her friend stood, I sucked in a breath, squared my shoulders, and willed my feet to move. Walking beside me, Tron snorted out a laugh. “Jesus, dude, she’s a beautiful woman, not a firing squad. Relax already.”
