Social Butterfly PR Presents: Sharkbait by Erin Mallon; #ReleaseBlitz, #NowAvailable, #OutNow, #TBR, #Live

Sharkbait, an all-new laugh-out-loud romantic comedy and third standalone in The Natural History Series from USA Today bestselling author Erin Mallon is available now!

My name is Louise and I’m a serial-monogamist marine biologist.

Try saying that five times fast.

Fresh out of an awful relationship and tired of always doing the right thing, this girl is finally saying “screw it” and having herself a meaningless fling.

Here’s the thing about flings though: they only work if you keep feelings out of the equation.

Well, that won’t be a problem for a sensible scientist like me… that is, until a one night stand with a hot single dad rocks my world and blows my plans completely out of the water.

If I’ve learned anything from the ocean world, it’s that those with the hardest shells have the most to fear. And something tells me this guy is going to crack mine wide the hell open.

My name is Louise and I’m a serial-monogamist marine biologist.

Fall in love today!

Blurb:

Only a bad nanny knows what it’s like to kiss the boss.

CEO millionaire, Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny.

Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past.

But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no.

And when Max locks eyes on the twenty-something in a tie-dye sweatsuit who pitches the idea of daydreaming all summer—he prepares to give this bad nanny the boot.

One problem: Max’s little girl thinks this plus-sized in body and spirit nanny might be her new bestie, so she hires her on the spot.

Now Max is stuck with this bizarre woman who hates everything he represents—corporate greed, money, status, power.

But one stormy night when the power goes out, he discovers Cozy doesn’t hate him. In fact, he’s the leading role in her fantasies.

Fantasies, he would very much like to make a reality.

My Thoughts:

This story has everything going for it, right from the start. We have an author that I love to read but love to listen just a little bit more. Add to that the combination of two of my favorite narrators and you’ve got a home run. Having a female character that is comfortable in her own skin, but is self-conscience around others, and a male character that sees beyond her outer shell, and doesn’t care about perfection, makes for a sweet treat.

Cozy has learned the hard way how to make some necessary changes in her life – what an inspiration. Why the changes become apparent as you get further into the book. Our author creates a great introduction and how it becomes important to what follows. Max seems to be set in his ways. He’s all about business when necessary but his heart flips a switch when it comes to family. And he seemed to be older than his years until Cozy and Everly start to interact. Everly becomes very important in how this story moves from chapter to chapter. She made me happy to get to know her.

Mr. Hamilton does a great job when it comes to female characters. Not all men can narrate and have you make the connection that the character is female. Ms. Mallon is the same with the male characters. She has a way of changing her voice that you automatically know which characters are male. Ms. Daws takes her story and includes just a little bit of another series in such a way that if you haven’t read it yet, you’re going to want to by the time you finish Cozy and Max’s story. And she may have you thinking about taking up a hobby and how interesting that the hobby made it on to my local news.

Excerpt:

“Max, I’m going to bed,” Cassandra groans, pulling her cotton robe tightly across her chest as she steps outside and leans against the side of the house. “Let’s just forget this horrible evening ever happened.”

“I can’t forget,” I bark, pointing at my head like a lunatic as I continue to pace. “Because I have a daughter. And knowing that she could grow up someday and have messed-up thoughts about her physical appearance will never be something I’m okay with.”

Cassandra’s brows knit together. “What?”

“What you said about me throwing you over my shoulder earlier? First of all…I could do that. Feel free to challenge me on that. I love a challenge.” I turn on my heel to march the other way. “But second of all, who cares if I couldn’t? Do you think that makes you any less worthy of someone? It doesn’t. It’s a superficial nothingburger of a thing. It tells nothing about the person you are or the beauty you possess.”

I pause to prop my hands on my hips, hitting her with a lethal glare before I deliver the next bit. Her lips are parted, her eyes are wide and glistening in the security light as she falls back against the white siding.

She looks like an angel.

“Third of all, you are not now, nor could you ever be a convenience hook up. In fact, you are the most inconvenient hook up of my life. Which is why I need you to hear the next part.”

“There’s more?” she gasps, her fingers touching her parted lips.

“A lot more, Cassandra,” I growl, my voice echoing off the house as I stalk toward her…

A single dad, a model, and a comedian walk into a bar… They’re all Owen Brodie.
It’s only funny if you aren’t the hilarious struggling comedian who has been hired to be his son’s nanny for the stand-up tour.

Dear Ms. Hogan,

I’m emailing to offer you the job as my son’s nanny because Sam had a temper tantrum when I told him I can’t hire you to come on my stand-up tour with us. “She heckled me at a club a few years ago,” I wanted to say. “She is the sassy little turd who trolls me on Twitter,” I could have told him. “She’s an even bigger pain in the butt when we’re face-to-face,” I thought to myself. What I would never tell him is—things could get complicated. For reasons.

Let me know if you want the job.

With great reluctance,
Owen

#AdorableHowObsessedYouAreWithMe

Dear Mr. Brodie,

Thank you for your email. Please inform Sam that I like him very much and would love to be his nanny and accompany him on your terrible joke of a stand-up tour.

I can assure you—things will not get complicated. For many, many reasons.

Primarily because Owen Brodie isn’t funny, and he can suck it.

Out of financial desperation and a fondness for your son,
Frankie

About the Author:

Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing from a Canadian university and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017, she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn’t allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now she’s an Amazon Top 25 bestselling author who is breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words. It’s an adjustment she’s happily getting used to.
