There was just something about a woman in jeans. In fact, he had a particular pair of jeans on his mind. They were deliciously tight and molded to this woman’s body so perfectly that Owen Gallagher had to grip the edge of the bar so he didn’t fall to his knees in thanks. It wasn’t every day that a woman left him breathless by merely walking into a building. Owen swallowed hard, thanking God once again for tight jeans and the way a woman could move.

My Thoughts:

Allison “Allie” Parker has one of the toughest jobs.  Micah Holt is a man with two jobs and one feeds his passion.  He’s a man that knows what he wants almost from the beginning but someone isn’t cooperating.  I love a woman who makes the man work for her attention.

You will find that once you meet Micah, you will not want to stop reading – thank goodness for holidays and weekends.  Maybe you’ve read this author’s work before.  Maybe you are aware of her Club Sin Series.  She has started this new series off with a bang.  I almost gave this a 5 star review but I want to wait and see what else this author has in store for this series.

One thing that surprised me was that we didn’t see too much of the inside of Micah’s other business but maybe that will come later in the series.  Even though I tagged this as a BDSM, this book was pretty tame in that department but she does include some at the very end.  That’s not to say that the sex wasn’t hot or that our couple didn’t light up the pages.  It could be that Ms. Kennedy is building our anticipation, which is the perfect way to look forward to reading this series.

Our author gives us a man who may be strong in business but he has past insecurities that never seem to go away.  At times they stay hidden until he finds the right woman who will see beyond his frailties.  But his woman isn’t without her own insecurities.  She also has a brother that she starts to discover some of his secrets.  And I think this is what will lead us into our next book in the series.  I know I’m looking forward to it.

My Thoughts:

Kyler Vance has two personas – one public and one private.  Mia Breslin is very passionate about her job.  She has a great friend named Daniella – would love to know more about her.  Once these two meet, their connection is almost combustible. 

Mia shows the reader exactly what it means to be a Sub.  Kyler shows the reader what it means to be a Dom.  These two characters are a great compliment to the other.  The Dom’s job is to know what the Sub needs and after their initial meeting Kyler knows what Mia needs.  But will his head get in the way?  Mia’s problem may be if family gets in the way of what she wants for her personal life.

This is a story that carries over from the author’s Hard Ink series.  If you are a fan of that series then you’ll get a treat with this new one.  If you haven’t read the Hard Ink titles yet, what a great inspiration to get to know what they are about after being introduced to some of them here.  And if you don’t have time to read, why not listen and let someone read the series to you.  If you have read the series then you get a chance to catch up with some of your favorite characters.  Kyler ties these two series together.

My only disappointment was that I would have loved a first hand look at Kyler’s ink.  And if I were to go one better, how about having the chance to watch the artistry at work.  But if I weren’t such a wimp and a hater of pain, I would go to my local tattoo shop and check into getting my own piece – and listen to one of her books to take my mind off the pain.  I did feel that we get our HEA ending but I didn’t get the impression that it ties the story to the next book in the series.  So we will just have to wait and see what’s coming next but that’s no hardship because she always keeps her readers happy.

Kyler had tried to stay away from Mia. When he’d seen her across the club, he’d walked away and stayed away. Despite the fact that her dress made him want to unwrap her, that the updo of her lovely brown hair bared that beautiful throat, that his body was making demands of him that his brain didn’t want to answer.

And then she’d made it worse. First, by walking away from the Dom who was clearly interested in her. Second, by waiting at the bar—for him—Kyler had no doubt that’s what she’d been doing. And third by not only giving up on Kyler, but finding a possible replacement in Master Quinton.
