Blurb:

Fans of Kristen Callihan, L.J. Shen, and Kylie Scott will scream for this sizzling bad boy rock star romance!

I'm no Prince Charming.

Most people know me as the drummer for Nothing but Trouble. Depending who you ask, I'm also a playboy, a loner, the life of the party, a screw-up, or according to my fans, "The Sexiest Rock Star on the Planet." Apparently, I'm a legend.

Am I surprised? Hell, no. It's a reputation I've earned behind my drum kit and behind closed doors. No one thought foster kid Landon Cox would become famous. Infamous, maybe. Notorious, probably. But successful? Never. No one except Piper Hastings. But I had to make a choice: my woman or my career. I picked fame and fortune... and spent every damn day since pretending I don't regret it.

Now fate's dropped Piper back into my life. I want to believe it's a second chance for me - for us. But while I can give her a few great nights, I can't give Piper a future.

Because there's a difference between a legend and a fairy tale...
Only one of them ends happily ever after.

My Thoughts:

Piper Hastings has decided that rock bands may not be for her anymore.  When you hear rock star, you’ll think Landon Cox.  It didn’t take me long to realize that he’s going to be a hard character to warm up to.  He’s definitely a bad boy but will he ever decide that he has someone in his corner.  He doesn’t have to get rid of the bad boy but be a little better about his actions.  He has a few redeeming qualities but I’m not sure that’s sufficient enough to change how I feel about him.  And that’s why I’m not going anywhere because I have to keep turning the page to see if he’s changed and be the someone that deserves a loving woman.

It was nice to see that Piper had a friend, Delaney Fraser, who could kind of understand what she’s going through.  They have a conversation that had me park my seat and not come up for air until this story was done.  Don’t know who Delaney Fraser is?  If you decide you want to know more about her please go back and read Rock King.  Having grown up listening to a lot of rock and roll, this series feeds into some of my beliefs of the rock band lifestyle.  Landon is the band’s drummer and as I’m reading his story I start to hear Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and I start to pick up on the drummer during certain points in the song – it gave me an idea of Landon’s part in the rock group called Nothing But Trouble.

One reoccurring character is Travis Taggert – he seems to be The Man in charge.  He has an important job, just as in the first book; he seems to help the story move along.  Even though he’s not a central character, I still want to see what he’s going to do in the next story.  This is one of those series that once each book comes out you want to get it read in one sitting.  You want to sit back and wait to see if the main character ever has that light bulb moment when their lives are about to change and hopefully for the better.

Landon’s story seems grittier than Shane’s.  Landon has some issues that need to be addressed and I’m not sure that I would want to be in Piper’s shoes.  At times it felt like he didn’t really realize how serious things were getting.  Seeing Piper have her own set of issues you may be able to understand what she’s going through having gone through some of the same things.  This was one thing that made the story seem so real – we as fans may have unrealistic expectations of how they behave once they’re off stage.  I was glad to see that our author took the time to include something personal like family – this was just one more thing that made the story seem so real.  This couldn’t be truer than once you get to the end.  The only thing I’ll tell you is make sure to have some tissue handy.
