Give Me Books Presents: Filthy Desire by Sebastian Ex; #CoverReveal & #Giveaway

Title: Filthy Desire
Author: Sebastian Ex
Cover Design: Book Covers by Design
 Release Date: March 4, 2015

Synopsis:

My name is Matthew Weston. Don't call me anything else, because I won't respond. And if you think you can get away with whimpering ‘Matt’ while I have you tied to the bed, about to devour you, it'll end up being your loss.

Men like me don't talk about feelings. We just don't.

What men like me do is pound. I pound the asphalt with my running shoes on morning runs. I pound a punching bag in the gym until my knuckles bleed. And when I need a release, I find a beautiful woman sprawled out on her bed, eagerly waiting for my cock, and pound her into oblivion. Yeah, that's me. I don't have feelings, and I don't do love.

At least I didn't, until the night Ella walked into my office looking like a disgusting junky to interview for a position for The Onyx Club.

She was like no one I'd ever met before. She was timid, reserved, and quite plain with her mousy brown hair and dirty clothes. Ella also had a dark and haunted gleam in her eye. A secret, a past she was desperate to conceal.

And when she called me ‘Matt’ it didn't seem to bother me.

She came into my life and turned it upside down.  The only question is, can I screw her out of my system, or will my filthy desire for her keep her by my side?

My Thoughts:

Isabelle’s feeling a little sorry for herself.  But her friend Gavin wants to change that.  Our author reminds her readers why exes are such dicks – pun intended.  She also reminds us how clueless some men can be well.  And then of course there’s the immaturity and the competitiveness.  It’s also about taking the step from friends to more then friends.

One of my favorite scenes was not a scene with sex in it but one where Red and Gavin go to the mall.  The way the author has written it, I can picture the whole scene playing out.  And after that it didn’t take me long to get hooked on the story.  Especially when I should have been outside shoveling the snow from the night before.  But I didn’t want to stop until I got to see what our couple was going to do.

Women in their twenties and thirties will probably enjoy this story.  Women over that may use this as a way of reminiscing about their own first loves and past boyfriends.  It’s a book that you can get read in just a couple of days, especially if you get into a reading frenzy.  The ending is left a little up in the air but that’s because our couple’s story continues in book two.  You will get a sneak peak at the end but can’t let you know when it will be coming out.  So you may want to follow this author so that if you liked this story and you want to continue reading about Red and Gavin, signing up for her newsletter is a good thing.

EXCERPT:

I sat back on the couch and took a deep breath. I had to keep it cool. Drooling over Red while she’s still trying to deal with the bullshit from Wilson is not the way to go. I could still smell that vanilla body wash she loved so much, the steam from the bathroom carrying it out and swirling it around my head.

I dropped the controller and turned off the television. I could see the reflection of the living room lights on the large TV set, and I could just make out a sliver of light escaping through Red’s cracked door. I watched as a shadow moved in front of the door. I turned the TV back on. I didn’t need to that guy, the guy that I usually am. If she were someone I was trying to fuck, I would have walked back to her room and watched her dress. I would have waited until she had her panties and bra on; then I would have stepped into her room and peeled them off her body.

But, Red is my best friend and that’s it. How was I supposed to know that kissing her was going to set off fireworks in my head? I hadn’t meant to kiss her, not like I did. I had just meant to maybe whisper something funny to her, or pull her close and tell her to forget about him, but all that went out the window when I pulled her close. She’s always been so strong, so tough. I can see she’s hurting, and I just wanted to take that pain away. But then she looked at me, and I lost it.

Her plump, pink lips were calling out to me. Her face was flushed and her pulse was pounding in her throat. She was beautiful. She is beautiful. Now, because of one moment of weakness, I've fucked it all up. She’s skittish around me now, and I don’t know what to do.

I haven’t thought about Red as anything other than a friend in a long time. But the more I think about it, the more I like it. We get along great, she’s smart, she’s funny, and she puts up with me. But, she’s my best friend, and her brother would kill me. And, if things don’t work out, it would fuck everything up, royally.

You don’t shit where you eat, and I'm not going to fuck my best friend no matter how good she looks getting out of the shower.

I just need to get my shit together. Quickly.

Give Me Books Presents: Garrett by Sawyer Bennett; Release Day Blitz & #Giveaway

Title: Garrett
Series: Cold Fury Hockey #2
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date:  February 17, 2015
Rating:  4 1/2 Stars

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from Give Me Books and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Told in the first person from both the point of view of the two main characters.

Synopsis:

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett hits the ice with the story of a playboy athlete whose winning ways lead him to a beautiful woman with a lot to lose.

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.

Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who
won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

My Thoughts:

Garrett Samuelson is at a team party when he meets Olivia Case.  She’s a woman who can keep up with him.  And the author has no trouble in letting the reader know the heat that these two create together.  What I loved about the characters the author has created here is that no one is perfect.  She has created characters that her readers can relate to.  And she also knows how to get the reader’s emotions involved so you may want to get your box of tissues just in case.

Olivia has a great boss and a great job but my smell-a-vision seems to be broken and then my mouth drops open – you’ll just have to read in order to find out why.  I hope you’ll love her boss as much as I did – he’s one character that I’d love to meet.  He also sounds like a great friend and one I’d love to have around.  There’s one scene where, for me, he’s solidified his gold star.

It won’t take you long to realize that it’s more then a hockey team but their also one big family.  Which is one reason to follow this series.  If you’re someone who’s a sports/romance fan or just a fan of this author’s, then this is a book to have in your library.  This is also a book that will act as a reminder as to what’s important in life.  And the only thing I’ll tell you about the ending is that it will have you smiling.  Book one just came out in October and book three doesn’t come out June so if you haven’t read Garrett’s teammate Alex’s story you have plenty of time to get caught up.
