My Thoughts:

Ryan Steel shows how our author can continually amaze me with her creativity.  She must have known the right twist to add to the Steel Brothers Saga that would grab my attention and solidify the issue of whether I could put this book down or not.  Ruby Lee left me no doubts that I wish I had started this book sooner or that a day off was in my future.

Please heed the warning at the beginning of this book because you’ll find yourself horrified, sad, and even angry at how some people get treated.  There are those that feel they have the right to vilify others and feel they can do it over and over without getting caught.  If you watched today’s news, you’ll see that eventually even famous people get caught red handed for their bad deeds.

These characters are complex and that complexity is something that makes the scenes so intense.  It’s like watching a movie – you want to look away but you can’t because you don’t want to miss a thing.  If you do look away you’re going to miss the important part.  The Epilogue was bittersweet.  It was nice to see the Steel Brothers come together for a happy occasion but it’s sad to see it come to an end.  But this just leaves me with getting to explore more of our author’s work.

My Thoughts:

Ruby Lee is sorry for some of her decisions.  Ryan Steel admits he did something stupid.  This book continues a series that for the most part should be read in order.  If you’re not sure that you’re ready to read the whole series at least start with Shattered.  That is the book that brings our two main characters together.

For me, this story was all about the mystery & suspense.  There seems to be one person that keeps things upended.  You’re left wondering what is going to happen next.  Are we going to get a clue as to what’s going on?  You will see that there’s heat between Ryan and Ruby.  You will see that there’s more than one connection between them.  I can say that I liked to see that but I looked forward to the mystery that they’re trying to solve.

I’m terrible at solving mysteries but that didn’t stop me from getting hooked on this series.  You want good things to happen to the Steel brothers and those that they care about.  But there are people out there that always seem to mess with that.  I want to know that the good will overcome the evil.  Ruby may be in the serve and protect profession but there are times where she seems timid and unsure of herself.  These two really seem to have a connection and it was interesting to watch it develop.  But it always came back to that mystery for me.  And that’s so true when you read the ending.  Good thing I don’t have to wait too long for the next book in order to see what happens next.
