About the Author:

USA Today Bestselling Author, Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun though she left that for a while to live in New Orleans, Denver and now Pittsburgh. She started single but the husband and then children joined in on the fun. She’s worked in engineering, then lawyer, then teacher, and finally novelist. My Thoughts:

Please read the author’s “Letter To Reader”. It will let you know how this story came to be. It may also increase your TBR/library by one. And if this author is new to you, maybe more than one.

Chloe is dealing with a lot of pain right now and is hoping that being close to loved ones will help. Miles happened to be in the right place – need to see if that will have an affect on his future. There’s also a little boy that has a lot of pain which shows that we need to not just dwell on our own pain but how things can also affect our children.

The author puts a lot of realism in creating her story. It helps to move the story along since you’ll want to see where things are going. Part of this is having a character dealing with PTSD. It’s so real that you can almost feel the anxiety coming off the page – so be careful if you have issues.

Miles is a main character but felt that Chloe had more of a voice – she needs support and it felt as if she was reaching out to the reader for some of that. Miles being a stronger character doesn’t need what Chloe does. It’s a tough read, a tender tale, and one that’s full of heart.

Being that this is coming out during the holiday season, Hallmark is running their marathon of Christmas related movies. I must have been lucky because the day I was finishing reading this book, the movies were military related – and even some of the commercials were as well. This story fits in perfectly but just don’t try doing both at the same time because one or the other will suffer. And we don’t want to disrespect the author. She will leave us with a little mystery that begins when you don’t see those dreaded words we always see when we don’t want it to be over. We will just have to wait and see what she has in store for us. So while you wait, maybe you can check out more of her work or more of the Salvation Society.

Karin is a New York Girl living in a Midwest world. A connoisseur of great words, fine bourbon, and strong coffee, she’s married to the love of her life who is also her best friend. The mother of two grown men, she is proud to say that they can cook, open car doors for the ladies, and clean up after themselves (you’re welcome, world). I was supposed to be on my honeymoon.

Instead, I cashed that shit in before he could and I got airline tickets and a hotel for down the line.

He left me at the altar, least I can get is a trip.

“I appreciate that, I really do, but I’m already freaking behind because of him.” I release a groan that almost sounds like a cry. “I’m never going to have kids now and I can forget my career goals!I need to find a new job. My life list requires that I don’t have a lot of time to lose.”

I’ve been a workaholic my entire life, I can’t imagine having an extended time off.

“Oh here we fucking go,” Ashton mutters while rolling her eyes.

“What?”

“The life list. Number one, be married and have the perfect life. Number two, stab Gretchen in the eye with her stupid list. Number three, burn the list and remind Gretchen that living isn’t a science.”

“Ash.” Catherine tries to mollify her. “You and I think the list is…extreme, but Gretchen likes it.”

“Yes. I do. I need lists to keep things in order. Besides, my mother always said a dream isn’t a plan until it’s written down.”

There’s nothing wrong with keeping things in order. I feel like having a life list has ensured that most of my plans, though not all, have worked out the way they should.

Sure, all the things that I believed I could check off on my list have now gone to shit, but at one point, they almost came true.

“Oh God!” I say with tears in my eyes.

“What?” Catherine rushes over. “Are you okay?”

I look at my best friend and shake my head. “He ruined everything! My entire life list is now gone! None of it is even possible. There’s no way I’ll even have kid number one by the time number two was due!”

I had a great job, that’s gone. I was getting married, that’s not happening. I was in my dream condo, which I can’t afford to keep now even if I did pull the sale. Everything all because of stupid Harold.

“Then it’s time for a new list.” Cat takes my hand. “Life is about adapting and now it’s time to do that.”

“I hate him.”

“As you should,” she agrees.

Ashton sighs. “Body parts in a box anyone?”

I let out a giggle and wipe the tears. I have the best friends. Catherine cancelled her trip back to California to see me through this. Ashton called out of work, and Jackson has...well, offered his services. I know it all feels so bleak right now, but with them on my side, I’ll be okay.

“My offer still stands to break his kneecaps,” Jackson attempts again.

“Now that I may change my mind about.”
