9781440347344BLURB:

This is not a book that will help you make a million dollars. This is not a book to teach you how to get tons of followers on Twitter or Facebook. This is a book for all writers. Whether you write full-time, part-time, as a hobby, or dream of writing one day, this book will strip down the layers of this fascinating career, examine all aspects of writing, and try to help blast through any blocks you have about writing.

It doesn’t matter what type of writer you are. Whether you have a story lodged in your heart, clawing to escape, or you are a full timer with a dozen manuscripts behind you. It doesn’t matter if you’re experienced or working on your first project. You are a writer because you write. Because you have something to say. Because you are alive, and want to share or work out what burns within your soul—both good and bad.

Writing is a big fuck you to everyone who has ever judged you not worthy, or belittled your creativity, or thought you were weird. It’s a way of balancing things, sifting through who you are, who you want to be, and who you will decide to be. So, let’s do what writers have been doing for centuries, all over the world.

Let’s begin.

From New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst, WRITE NAKED: A Bestseller's Guide to Writing Romance and Navigating the Path To Success is a new nonfiction book aimed at writers of romance and women's fiction, intermingling writing exercises, strategies and tips with personal essays on the writing experience from one of the star romance writers today. Written in the chatty, accessible voice of a friend, confidant and mentor, WRITE NAKED speaks to writers at all stages of the publishing journey.

Snippet:

Nothing in this world is more important than family relations. Family includes parents, siblings, spouse, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When it comes to the race of life, this group of individuals will define your success in everything you do. Failure in any of these relationships cannot be compensated for by your success in business, sports, or other pursuits.

I know children do not always agree with their parents. as individuals, we each have the ability and responsibility to make our own choices and decisions, which are never the same for any two of us. however, just because i do not cut the lawn the same way, decorate my house the same, like the same make of car or like or dislike the Dallas Cowboys, there is no reason i cannot honor and respect my parents. Sometimes we let little things become huge barriers in our relationship with our parents. I had a client who had not communicated with his parents for over twenty years because of an argument over a shotgun. How lame is that? ...

But some people don't even visit their parents, or say thank you, or call them on the phone. As I have said before, what goes around comes around, and some day you will mature and be one of the older generation. I hope you receive the same type of honor from your children that you have given to your parents.
