WILD HORSES COULDN'T BRING THEM TOGETHER...

With exceptional talent and looks, cowboy "horse whisperer" Keith Russo once had the world at his feet - until his career was unwittingly destroyed by an aspiring filmmaker. After being rejected by his family for exploiting his Native American heritage, Keith has no choice but to turn back to his humble beginnings as a wild horse wrangler.

BUT MAYBE THEIR PASSION CAN...

Miranda Sutton always dreamed of making films, until wild mustangs captured her heart. But turning her grandmother's Montana ranch into a wild horse sanctuary proves harder than she thought. She needs someone who knows wild horses. Keith and the mustangs need each other. And while working together to save the herd, Keith and Miranda discover a passion as wild as the mustangs they love.

Early Praise for Saddle Up

"Vane's in-depth knowledge of wild mustangs adds realism to this novel, with its beautiful portrayal of the wilds of the desert as a parallel to the ever-changing but scintillating relationship between Miranda and Keith." - Publishers Weekly

" Vane's fourth Hot Cowboy Nights novel is an interesting character study that features some particularly refreshing insight and development... Vane keeps the bar high by forcing her headstrong protagonists to confront who they truly are and what they want from each other, giving them room to grow and making their happy ending feel well-earned. Fans and newcomers alike will enjoy a satisfying reading experience." - RT Book Reviews, 4 Stars

My Thoughts:

Miranda Sutton feels like her dreams are slipping away.  Keith “Two Wolves” Russo seems to have a way around horses.  The author has an interesting way of showing her readers how fate can be when our life seems to be going nowhere.  And fate doesn’t always make our lives easy.  There’s action from beginning to the very end so be leery of distractions.  And if you don’t make it to the end then you will not know if they get a happy ending.

This is one of those stories where you will get lost in what is going on.  Our author takes her readers on an adventure that has me wanting to pack my bags.  She makes me wish that I wasn’t afraid of heights so I could learn to ride a horse.  Then once I learn to ride a horse, I want to take a trip out West so I can experience some of what our characters do.  The only problem I would have is trying to camp out in the open air.  It’s fine if I was mmmm years younger but since I’m not I’ll just have to check into renting a cabin or an RV.

If you’re a fan of Western romances then this has got to be on your TBR list.  Maybe you like a hero that has some Native American in his blood.  This makes me think of my own heritage – was always told that we had full-blooded Cherokee in our family tree.  When I go camping I’d love to have someone like Keith around – you’ll feel protected and you just might learn a thing or two about survival.  By the time you get to the end of this story, there is no way that you will not realize how much Ms. Vane loves horses.

This is a book that I would read again.  I can picture taking it on vacation or even sitting in a field with wild life – but not too wild- around me.  Can you imagine no phone, no traffic noise, and no music except the music of the birds singing?  What a great way to read this latest book in the Hot Cowboy Nights series.

Author Interview:

Thank you so much for having me Lynn!

1:  Which reviewer award are you most proud of and why?

I really can't answer that as they have all been special, but the one that came as the biggest shock was when Marlene Harris at Library Journal chose my Devil DeVere series as one of her five top e-book romances of 2012. I was almost completely unknown to readers at the time. It was a huge boost for which I am very grateful.

2:  Which do you find is harder to write - historical or contemporary?  Why?
I always thought contemporary romance would be really hard for me to write because I have a very strong historical writing voice, but once my contemporary characters came to life, the stories just took off. To my surprise, I found a whole new voice. My historical and contemporary stories are very much character-driven.

3:  What do you love to do in your down time?
I love to read of course, but have very little time for that anymore. I also love to ride my horse, a beautiful ten year old grey Arabian named Princeton.

4:  Have you ever been frustrated by a book and never finished it?
Do you mean writing or reading? I've DNF'd several books I was reading, but so far have finished nearly every writing project I have begun. Although I still have several that are on the back burner, it's only for lack of time, not out of frustration.

5:  What are you looking forward to the most in 2015?
I'm hoping very much that 2015 will be a break out year for me. I have at least four books coming out, three contemporaries and probably a historical novella or two. I think at least two of these stories (ROUGH RIDER and SHARP SHOOTER) represent my best work to date. My fingers are crossed that readers will agree.

6:  When did you first learn you wanted to be a writer?  And who was your inspiration?
I fell into writing. It was never anything I planned to do. Six years ago I got a story in my head that wouldn't leave so I wrote it. I had never taken a creative writing class and didn't even know any writers so I fumbled along as best I could. I finished the book in fourteen months, a story of star-crossed lovers set in the world of 18th century horse racing. THE HIGHEST STAKES, written as Emery Lee was published by Sourcebooks in April 2010. I wrote a follow up to it called FORTUNE'S SON that I loved but didn't sell very well. After that I decided to write steamier romances as Victoria Vane.

My biggest writing influences are Georgette Heyer for her wonderful wit and colorful characterizations and Robin Schone for her erotic historical romances.

7:  Who is the one person you really want to meet and what would you ask them?
I would love for the chance to meet and talk with Edith Maude Hull, the author of THE SHEIK, a classic romance that was the FIFY SHADES of its time (1919). She was a huge risk taker, as am I.  I re-wrote her story and published it as THE SHEIK RETOLD.  Although I made quite a few changes, it is still very much an homage to the original work.

My Thoughts:

Nicole “Nikki” Powell needs to say something to someone that she hasn't seen in a while.  The reader's first introduction to her has them feeling sorry for her.  And this shows how powerful the author's choice of words are when the reader starts to feel sorry for a character.  Wade Knowlton may appear to be an old softie but don't expect that anyone can just walk all over him.  His character can be seductive one minute and sweet the next - he just seems so real.  Their first scene together will have you snickering.  And this is when the author has hooked her readers.  The difficult part will be trying to put the book down.

This story is also a great book to take when you go on vacation.  Especially if you decide you want to visit the state of Montana, a farm, or even a working ranch.  I love a book that can take me places and all I have to do is turn on my e-reader or open a paperback.  If you don't have a lot of money to travel  this is a cheap way to go exploring - it's also a great way to create a bucket list.

Our author certainly knows how to create tons of steam between her two characters.  And this is why the choice of words an author uses becomes so important.  Graphic language and graphic sex also become part of the book but the sex scenes are just icing on the cake.  And the ending will have you smiling.

The reader relies on the author to include something that will hold their attention from beginning to end.  One way that the author does this is by including those characters that you just love to hate.  Those characters are just one more incentive to grab your own copy of this great book - just to see if they get their just desserts.  You will find that this book is the perfect setup to the coming of book two, Rough Rider, coming out in February.  And if you can't wait until then, why not stop over to Victoria's web site and check out her novella titled Slowly Unwrapped that continues Nikki and Wade's story.
