My Thoughts:

Gentry Weston has a slight change of plans.  Sometimes those plans have a mind of their own and we can only see where they’re going to take us.  Hope Birch has a set plan that she wants to stick to.   

This is a story that will help you escape and give you a few laughs along the way.  I loved both the innuendoes and the banter the author has created.  It helps to move the scene along while getting you to either shake your head, giggle, or a little bit of both. 

If you’ve read this author before than don’t expect it to be like the last book.  This is probably tame with not as much heat but our author will still grab your attention.  I liked the addition of Gentry’s family.  Even though they are secondary characters, they will help you understand who Gentry is.  I could feel the connection that our main characters had but I thought that Gentry always seemed to shine a little bit brighter.  Tropes are a big thing nowadays so if you are one to wonder what this one is you want to think second chance at love.  If you haven’t dipped your toes into the Cocky Hero World yet than this would be a good place to start.

“The Chinese once thought that fireflies were burning grass. They would catch them and keep them in jars, using them as lanterns. The Japanese legend though, thought they were the souls of the dead. There’s a little magic history in them too,” he says, his eyes trained out at the water.

“What’s the magic?”

“They say that if you’re feeling lost, you can catch the fireflies in a jar. Ask them to light the way for you, to show you the path you need to go down then release them from the jar.”

“That’s beautiful.” Gentry nods and pulls his hand from mine. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out two small jars, passing me one. I take it in my hand and stare at the small piece of glass before I look up and ask, “What are we doing?”

“Catching the magic. Some days I think I’m lost and I don’t know what way to go. Some I know my fate. Today is one of those I’m not so sure about. I think we could both use a little magic, don’t you?”
