Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Synopsis:

Marek Fabritis is used to delivering blows, not receiving them. But when he gets tipped off by an anonymous email about his ex-girlfriend, the news leaves him ice cold—and it’s not because Gracen Moore is getting married to a total jerk. It’s the fact that Marek has a three-year-old daughter he never knew about. Now he’s going back home, not to play knight in shining armor but to make damn sure that no man takes what’s his. For the first time, there might be something more important than hockey.

Gracen Moore has always loved Marek. That’s why she let him go, so he could pursue a career in the NHL. And that’s why she never told him about Lilly. Only now does Gracen realize that she made an unforgivable mistake. But is that any reason for Marek to crash her wedding and make an epic scene? If the spark that still smolders between them is to be trusted, maybe. Still, Gracen’s not getting her hopes up. Because she knows better than anyone that appearances aren’t always what they seem. . . .

My Thoughts:

Marek Faloritis got the surprise of a lifetime.  And it scares him to death.  Gracen Moore has had to make some pretty tough choices.  But was her latest choice a mistake.  We also have a sweet little girl.  This may be a second chance romance but it takes quite a while to see.

When I first started reading the book I thought Marek was an A #1 jerk.  Wasn’t too sure if he was going to redeem himself until he tells us a tall tale.  He also seems to tone down his attitude but it’s always at the back of my mind – can a leopard change its spots.  And that’s one reason that I kept reading.  At times Gracen made me sad because of what appeared to be self-esteem issues.  But when it comes to her daughter, she’s a lioness.  The author creates a secondary character that you have no trouble hating.  He’s not a wimpy character but the word bully comes to mind.

This is a story of patience.  It will take a while, and it may seem like quite a while, for you to warm up to a certain hockey player.  It may be typecasting but he fit the role perfectly.  I just couldn’t like him until I knew he was going to be good to Gracen – and that’s another way that I had to show patience.  Lastly, we have to be patient to see if the author is going to give her readers a book twelve in the Cold Fury Series.  But in the meantime, she has plenty of other hockey players that you can learn about when you read the other books in this series.

Reed (Cold Fury, Book #10)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: February 6, 2018

Synopsis:

Hockey season may be over, but in New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett’s new novel, a Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker is heating things up off the ice and eager to score with the girl next door.

No one skates like Reed Olson. In the off-season, no one plays like him either. After back-to-back championships, Reed craves a different kind of action. Good thing there’s no shortage of women ready for a summer fling with a sports star. Reed has a specific type—blond, busty, not too bright—and a little black book full of options. But when his bed starts rocking, it’s his unexpectedly sexy neighbor who comes knocking. And the brainy beauty is impossible to ignore.

Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: sleep. His headboard banging against the wall is keeping her up at night—not to mention inspiring some very naughty dreams. Reed is everything she imagined: a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But he’s also funny and charming—a tempting combination. Josie’s the opposite of his type, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their friendship certainly has its benefits, and it’s heating up to be so much more.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Then the Carolina Cold Fury makes him an offer he can’t refuse . . . and Van meets a woman he can’t resist.

Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. Simone gets what she wants, and what she wants is Van. Still, there’s a part of him Simone can’t reach, no matter how hard she tries. In private, he’s all fire and passion. In public, he freezes her out. Van may want to push her away, but Simone won’t let him go that easily. Because this time, she’s playing for keeps.

Release Date: September 19, 2017

Synopsis:

The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love.

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

My Thoughts:

Lucas Luc Fournier feels like a lucky man.  After all hes a real ladys man.  Stephanie Frazier is not happy with the news shes been given.  They both seem tentative around each other but each just seems to have something that the other needs in their life.

We get to see couples from other parts to this series.  You dont really need to have read their stories in order to enjoy this one but in order to understand this group as a whole you may want to check the other seven books out – if you havent already.  Some dont like a book thats told in the first person.  But having a story in the point of view of our main characters gives the reader a better understanding of what they are thinking and feeling – much better than having someone else tell us.  Lucs cute in how he wants to take care of Stephanie.  Its cute to watch them grow as a couple.

The Epilogue is different than some.  This time the author sets us up for the next teammate, Van, who gives us a tiny look into what his story might be about.  This series is like getting up close and personal with your favorite hockey team.  We get to see the personal lives play out of some of our favorite players.  Hockey season starts soon so what better way to get prepared than to read the books in the Cold Fury Hockey series.
