My Thoughts:

This is a story that caught my attention right from the beginning.  It doesn’t start on a happy note and that just left me wondering where this was going to go.  We have two people that are thrown together by circumstance but Amelie is going into this quietly kicking and screaming.  Luca will honor the family’s duty. 

 

Our author has created a female character that knows when to be strong but you realize how young/ignorant she is at times.  We learn about her world through her eyes.  Luca is that man that thinks what he says and does should be obeyed.  Sad thing is, he never realizes the consequences.  These are two people where it seems their world dictates what they do and how they act.  We know what conquers all though. 

 

Two people that helped me get to know our main characters were Ms. Rose and Mr. Morgan.  They let me hear the emotions that they are feeling.  They made this to be a very pleasant read and made me aware of some things that could be triggers for others.  You can certainly see why this would be part of a mafia series. 

 

If you are a fan of the mafia trope then you may want to check this author out.  It may be a story that you want to read instead of listen.  One difference between the two is that there’s a playlist that you don’t listen to when Ms. Rose and Mr. Morgan are reading you this tale.  It left me wanting to know when book two will be out and who the narrators may be.
