My husband had been keeping a secret from me—a secret that would irrevocably change the course of our lives.
He was the son of one of the most ruthless men alive, and an heir to the infamous Fausti crime family. They were beautiful, powerful, ruthless—royalty in their beloved Italy and beyond. Though I was under their protection, the monster who craved me would stop at nothing to have me. He demanded blood as the price for revenge.

The clandestine life my husband led pulled us deeper into a dangerous world, and his vengeance came at my expense. I became the one with a secret to keep—a secret that might kill me in the end.

Book IV in a seven-part Mafia Romance saga.

My Thoughts:

Brando Fausti shows how hard it is to grow up in la famiglia. Scarlett Fausti needs to write her thoughts and feelings down. In this part of the series our couple are separated a lot. Our couple shows how difficult it can be on the heart. It’s also easy to see how much they miss each other.

I liked how the author found ways for them to communicate even when apart. It makes our couple more real since that’s what any loving couple would do. In previous books I had feelings of soap opera and reality show. This book I have feelings of real life. In the last book we got to see Scarlett shine and Brando took the back seat. In this book he seems to be in the forefront. But when they are together, they seem to tackle anything together.

Because of the world Brando comes from it filters into the story and that will help to move the story along. A little mystery and suspense is never a bad thing. We have a secondary character that seems to have more of a roll here as well. Is it she’s starting to be a little more important to this series? Only you and time can tell. One thing I can tell you is that this is not a series that you can start here – you have to start from the beginning. Otherwise you may not understand the characters or what is going on. Plus starting from the beginning will not be a hard chore.

How our author got the inspiration to tell Brando and Scarlett’s story over seven books I will never know. What I do know is that each book can stand on its own. You will not feel as if you’ve read anything before – anything being repeated. It’s all about the couple and their life – be it together or apart. It certainly has me curious as to what is in store for us in the next book – especially with the ending she left me with.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her passion for writing began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightning bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.
When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently resides in Texas (where everything really is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their three peculiar dogs, Boudreaux, Tabasco, and Vanna Loo (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

There was one secret that I kept from my wife.
The Fausti famiglia was one of the most infamous and powerful crime families in the world. Their rule spanned the thickness of history books.
And I was one of them.
I was the estranged son of the most ruthless man in the monarchy, Lucious Leone Fausti. Only a murderous technicality kept me out of his reach, but there was never any doubt that I belonged to him. I saw his reflection in every mirror. The darkness that lived in his eyes lived in mine.
My dangerous lineage had been hidden until my wife, Scarlett, the curious farfalle that she was, started fluttering around the sleeping giant. She awakened the monsters of my past, and they would stop at nothing to claim what they felt belonged to them.
Using my wife as a pawn in their game to lure me in? Wasn’t going to happen. They underestimated this monster they had created. I’d sacrifice it all to keep the woman I called mine safe—even if it meant my life.
La mia parola è buona quanto il mio sangue. My word is as good as my blood.
Book III in a seven-part Mafia Romance saga.

My Thoughts:

Brando Fausti has gone on a deep-sea dive and taken the reader right along with him. That includes not panicking at the depths he has to travel. Scarlett Rose Poesy shows us the love she has for her husband. This third book in the Fausti Poesy saga seems to be all about their relationship. We get to watch them navigate the world of marriage. You also get to travel with them without having to leave your armchair.

In this third book in the Beautiful Years series there are plenty of characters that come and go. Just like us, people come and go and some have a small effect on what happens in our lives. Temptation seems to be a theme here. There seems to be a few enticements that are put in Scarlett’s path. The author does a great job at tempting her readers as well. It had me wondering what else this author was going to put in front of Scarlett – just like that enchanted apple.

In the last book, I thought “soap opera” but with this book I thought “reality show”. It’s like watching their life play out for our enjoyment. In this story, I connected more about what was going on with Scarlett. It was like Brando was taking a back seat so that his wife could shine. But that doesn’t stop family business from sneaking in – even though we don’t see it or read it doesn’t mean that it’s gone away. There are ups and downs in any relationship and I felt a sense of sadness as I worked my way toward the end that left me with a sense of foreboding. I’m so ready for book four – I want to know…
