My Thoughts:
The bright spots in the book are the times when Monet and Alana are together. Their interactions are the pleasurable parts to this story. The “dark” parts were hard to see unless you consider the men’s behavior. One good moment was when a scene had me remembering why I miss my grandmother’s stove. I loved the thought of a small town in Ireland but it didn’t override what was going on between Monet and the O’Shea brothers.
It’s not really a happy story or a romantic story. It’s hard to get past the way Monet was treated. Not what a “reverse harem” brings to mind. For me it was more of a ménage than anything else but nothing that screams dark romance. It was hard to believe that these men actually loved Monet – just didn’t feel it.
If you’re looking for something different than this will fit the bill. If you’re not a fan of a ménage than this book will not be for you. If you’re not into rough treatment of women than again this book will not be for you. Maybe you’ll like the change of scenery – I would have loved to see more of the countryside – but there may not be enough of that to hold your attention. It’s not a book that I can see myself reading again. I don’t give up on an author just because of one book so I would see what else these ladies have to offer.
