About the Shadow Walker Box Set:

After her enforcer teammates are killed in a bust gone wrong, Denai witch Charlie McCray struggles to carry on working the job without them. Using her gift of communicating with the dead, she's determined to get justice and find those responsible no matter what. But her only clue to go on is a mysterious orb with a deadly reputation that everyone wants to get their hands on.

The only one who may be able to help her figure out their deaths, and the connection to the orb is the dark and sexy demon from her past. Convinced she's his life mate, to her denial, Charlie isn't happy to see him again. Can they really work together as partners to track down the truth whilst ignoring the ever-growing attraction between them?

My Thoughts:

Charlotte “Charlie” McCray is one of the good guys/women who can’t seem to catch a break.  Drake is working with someone that really frustrates him.  Charlie is a character that I could see having her own show on either on Freeform or on the syfy network.  Charlie reminds me of Olivia Benson on Law and Order:  Special Victims Unit.  I could see the two of them being friends or even working together.  You could see the two of them having things in common – especially when it comes to caring about people they work with.  Drake is one that I will have to think on.

In the first book, I was back and forth whether or not I liked him and if he would be good for Charlie.  This just shows how well the author is doing her job.  Charlie needs someone like that in her life.  He forces her to do things that she might not want to face.  Our author is good about showing how hard relationships can be – especially for women who are lucky enough to have two men in their lives.  For me that took a back seat because I wanted to follow them as they had things that they needed to solve – that’s where my love of Law and Order comes in.  Drake was a good character because he kept me reading, in a way, because I wanted to find out if I would ever like him or if I would continue to go back and forth.

What I love about a boxed set is that I already have the three books of the trilogy all in one place.  In a way it forces me to read the books in order.  It’s a better way to follow the sequence of events as they were meant to be especially after Drake performs a disappearing act.  Loved the secondary characters.  They added a little extra energy to a scene instead of trying to put the focus on them.  The great combination of our main characters with the interactions of the secondary characters is one reason that I felt it would be a perfect television series – and that feeling never changed.  Then we have some lesser characters that I could almost hear that “evil” music play as their scenes would unfold.  If you like the Shadowhunters (I’m talking tv show) than you would love this.  I can’t wait to read this set again.  And you may ask why I would read this set again?  Sometimes we pick up on something that we may have missed or just didn’t see the first time around.  Plus I just want my Charlie fix.
